Decent Icon editor for WB 3.1
Hello.
Is there an icon editor for Workbench 3.1 which will allow me to draw icons using the full 16 colour palette that I've created and locked with FullPalette? Something specifically intended for icon creation, rather than a way to save as an icon from a paint package - so it's easy to do the unselected/selected state and work on a small canvas? I'm trying to make a nice Workbench without resorting to things like fancy Glow/New/Magic icons - none of which I really understand! |

I'm pretty sure that IconEdit that comes with 3.1 can handle 16, 32, even 256 colours without problem. I just launched it and the palette starts off with 32 colours visible and selectable to me.

Ooof...
I only get 8 with 'multicolour' setting. Even though I've defined a 16 colour palette with Full Palette. I must be doing something wrong that's really obvious... |

The one in 3.5 or 3.9 displays more though. You still can use that to create "classic" icons too that work with 3.1 (select "Old Image" at the top instead of "New Image" Last edited by Steffest; 03 September 2020 at 21:32. Reason: typo |

Yes Icon Edit 3.9 seems to be more advanced, if you want to create nice 32 Bit PNG icons you have to use Icon Editor, this Icon Editor:

Join img1.png img2.png AS icon.info Anyway, but I don't think there is an icon editor for Classic OS 3.1 that does more then 8 colours (in classic icons) |

I don't have any icon packages (NewIcons, GlowIcons, PeterK's, etc) installed other than 3.1's default icon system. |

I always thought it "sneakily" converted them to another icon format. Good to know. So that would be the answer for Ulysses13: Icon editor for 3.1 that does more than 8 colours in classic icons -> Iconian. |

Great guys, looks like just the job!
Having trouble installing Iconian though, it's grumbling about guigfx.library not being found, so I'm just looking into that... |

OK, got it working. I needed guigfx.library and render.library together.
It's great - just what I was after. Thanks guys! |
