AROS One x86 v1.6 ISO DVD: Download

AROS One x86: New version of my Distribution based on the new Core by Deadwood, among the novelties a USB Flash App to Create Live Pendrive, App created by Paolone that I thank and modified by me to make it compatible on AROS One.


AROS One is now also distributed in the "Pendrive Image" format, once this image is burned on a 4GB or larger Pendrive it will allow you to recreate a Live USB that can be booted on all supported PCs and consequently install AROS on HD without the need for a DVD.

If you use a Pendrive larger than 4GB, the rest of the space will remain available as a second raw partition that can be formatted later on a PC in FAT32 and used as a data exchange between AROS One and other OSes.

Check in the attached link the compatibility of your hardware.

If supported or partially supported try first AROS One pre-installed on Pendrive, if you use a pendrive larger than 4GB you can format the remaining partition in FAT32 and use it in sharing with other OS

Added on AROS One interesting utility found on Aminet/archives.aros-exec is "RMan" a converter "man pages" (short for "manual pages") to many formats, an extensive online documentation used by almost all GNU/Linux distributions.


This version 3.3 is able to convert man pages to:

- ASCII -- plain text
- TkMan -- Tk format wrapped with commands
- Tk -- just emit list of text-tags pairs
- Sections -- simple plain text reformat
- Roff -- primitive analogue of roff
- HTML -- HTML 4.0 standard document
- XML -- DocBook XML support by by Aaron Hawley
- MIME -- generates MIME compliant to RFC 1563
- LaTeX -- typical LaTeX
- LaTeX2e -- rest same as old LaTeX

Hello ! thank you so much for the new icons which gives to the system a pretty look I would like to know which wifi pci card i could put to my aros computer ? i already have rtel 8139 for ethernet, nvidia 9200 for vidéo and a double core as processor. worked well with icaros desktop but well i do not know which wifi card to put in thanx you yet and have a gooooooooooooood day ^^

yes i just brought back the computer from up stair and go to test it tuesday afternoon
Normaly with rtl8139 ethernet cart, 9200 video cart and sound cart which worked well past the time.

Installed on AROS One some tools for Developers, among these Murks, an integrated development environment that tilizes the same project file format of AmiDevCpp, so the exchange of data is possible.

Tried to write a few lines or compile some source code in "C", of course this is not my field but I need to see if everything works well because the GUI is quite friendly.

On this occasion I changed the graphics with Menu Icons in strictly AROS One style.

It is not a problem AROS One works great on VMware and VirtualBox, the only problem is that you have available only the VESA Video Card, but it is not a problem, apart from games, all the software will be compatible and very fast.

Great ferment on Datatypes on AROS, the good Miker is developing new datatypes for all AROS platforms, and is also improving Multiview so that it can save displayed images in any other format.

Moreover Miker is working on a datatypes converter "DTConv" now only a Shell command but in the future it will have also a Graphic Interface, in this regard I have taken advantage to insert "DTConv" on Dopus4, where thanks to this tool you will be able to convert a Graphic or Audio format with a Click, provided also the possibility to give a new name to the converted image.

HERE you can find a small demo video on Dopus4, I also attach a screenshot of a modification made this morning where I simplified the commands (now multifunction).

Thanks to Miker's DTConv is now possible on AROS One x86 to convert images in JPG, PNG, IFF, TGA and GIF formats 8bit & 24bit directly from Dopus4 with a simple click.

As you can see on Dopus4 I've created three different buttons, a "Purple" button for direct conversion with a predefined file name, a second "Blue" button to save with a file name of our choice, and a third "Red" button that allows you to save the image with a file name and a path of your choice.
