What the hell is FTP???
Dumb question I know, but as I only ever used my Amiga for playing games and wordprocessing, never got round to the finer online things. Now I use windoze for that, whilst running WinUAE for Amiga simulation, and I keep reading about FTP for file transferring.....wtf is it, how does it work and how the hell do I get connected thru WinUAE?
Anyne help this old git please? ![]() ![]() |

FTP stands for "For The Pro's"... so don't bother with it...
I'm kidding.... don't remember right now what it stands for.... 1 sec search on google and you'll find out... but WinUAE can't connect to FTP... FTP is like a internet site you connect to and get displayed with files... no gfx. |

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol.

I always thought it was a gangster rap title...."Fk the Police"....shows what I know...lol
Seriously tho, u say WinUAE can't connect to it? That surprises me if it's an internet prog, as I can connect to the net using IBrowse, YAM etc. Is there no FTP prog that will work in WinUAE at all then? |

Of course there are FTP programs for AmigaOS, like AmFTP, AmiFTP, AmiTradeCenter etc. And these can certainly used on WinUAE with a serial internet connection or through bsdsocket emulation.
But WinUAE itself cannot connect to anything on the internet. WinUAE is an Amiga emulator, not an internet program. |

Cheers Thomas. That's what I thought. I do have broadband connection at home (again thru windoze), and tend to have that up and running before using IBrowse, but what threw me was the reply saying that "WinUAE can't connect to FTP..." guess I misread it.
I'll get on to d/l the AmiFTP tonight and see what else I can pick up softwarewise!!! |
