Request for WHDLoad - Sim City 1.2 + Graphics Sets + Terrain Editor
Would be nice to have an 'all in one' setup to include everything.
I've had this set up through installing the originals, etc... But that kept the copy protection in place. Anyone got the cycles to smash this together? I can provide the ipf's, if needed. I was the original donor (or at least one of them).. |

What's most needed is a Sim City slave that supports saving games

I thought one of the more recent ones claimed it did 'on hard drive' saving.
Was that not correct? I hadn't put that to the test yet.. I always played off my old setup. |

I'm not to familiar with what a WHDLoad installer can do, but if I remember correctly, the SimCity game files are getting modified when installing one of the Graphics Packs. So, I think it would require additional steps afterwards.
I was messing around with the available Workbench 1.3 slave in the last few days and I also looked into SimCity Deluxe. It requires some manual installation beforehand, but it worked for me when I basically copied the patched game- and additional files to the data folder of the Workbench slave. There still would be the issue with the copy protection with that method but there is a cracked version of SimCity Deluxe available on the ftp server. I just used the first three disks (pre patched/cracked game - terrain editor - future cities installer) and also grabbed one of the ancient cities disks. I copied the first disk to RAM:SimCity and used that path in the graphics installers. To clean up the files, I moved the six new graphics to a new drawer called Graphics and I deleted all icons except the SimCity and Terrain Editor ones. At first I had some issues which caused the slave to crash, but I think that was when I just pressed enter on the copy protection screen. Entering 1 as value seems to fix the problem and I think I removed the setpatch entry from the startup-sequence (that is also required for the normal workbench installation). When selecting a different graphic set, I suggest to select the WHDLoad drive first. Otherwise it will probably not find it again when starting the game again. |

You are correct - it did patch the original executable (and in the case of my situation, upgraded it from 1.0 to 1.2 in the process).. I think I had a crack for 1.2 on one of the many copiers of the days gone by - Probably on ProjectD, if I remember right. I could probably fudge my way through a manual install of all these things to get SimCity upgraded to 1.2 on an ADF, apply the patch for the graphics sets, then copy the floppy image with projectD to remove the copy protection, then install it to the hard drive... But the point was to bypass all this garbage and get a whdload that would just install it and patch properly up front. Oh well... I can doo eet.

There is a whdload package available on the ftp server using the Workbench slaves. But if I remember correctly there's an issue with some of the files containing underscores. Especially the default graphics set. So you would need to rename them to avoid an error message. I have not tested it further, since I have have compiled my own slave and added/removed some stuff. So I don't know if it has an issue with saving games which appears to be a thing on other versions.
I probably could write an Readme file to give informations and credits for my installation and upload it. |

Well, here is my custom installation. Or an even more generic variant with some extra features. I mainly added Redit and the menu entries to edit the TMouse config files. It is setup for my needs, but it might bad for others.
Code:
SimCityDX --------- This is a custom installation of SimCity using a customized Workbench 3.1 Slave done by Wepl. Included: - SimCity, patched to use additional graphic sets - TerrainEditor v1.1 - Future and Ancient Cities graphics sets (in Graphics directory) - Scenarios and MoreCities (in the corespondig directorys) Addons: - SimCity Hint document - TerrainEditor Manual --------- Notes: - When changing the graphics, select the SimCityDX drive at the top first before entering the "Graphics" directory. Otherwise there might be an error when starting the game another time. --------- TMouse is loaded on startup and can be disabled from the WB Tools menu. - Adds StickyRMB entry. - Adds entries to edit the TMouse Settings and Menu. - Adds "Quit WHDLoad" entry, which quits the WHDLoad environment. Of course all entries will disappear when TMouse is ended. To restart TMouse use the "Execute command..." entry. --------- Used packages: - Workbench 3.1 slave - http://whdload.de/apps/Workbench31.html - Lister - http://aminet.net/package/text/show/Lister - ksc_OldIcons - http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/ksc_OldIcons - Redit - http://aminet.net/package/text/edit/Redit - SimCity Hints - http://aminet.net/package/game/hint/GAME36 - StickyRMB - http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=221672&postcount=23 - TerrainEditor Manual - http://aminet.net/package/game/hint/GAME14 - TMouse - http://aminet.net/package/util/mouse/TMouse20 Last edited by EctoOne; 14 February 2022 at 22:02. |

Lol
Yeah, for the last few weeks I've been working on this myself ....
This is my attempt at it, using my originals - SimCity 1.0, patched to 1.2 through the Graphics Disks installs - added the Terrain Editor and Utils, plus all the bonus cities from each. It's also cracked cleanly, so it saves now too.. https://eab.abime.net/zone/SimCityComplete.lha Feel free to WHDLoad it if you want, but it works fine without needing it. |
