Amiga 4000 graphic card
Hi folks, maybe this question is stupid but I have to ask. If I put a mediator pci board and then a graphic card, for example an Ati card, in an amiga 4000D. Then I use os3.9, can I still run games that need the AGA-chip, ECS/OCS? The monitor will be connected to the Ati-card. Or is the Ati card just used in workbench? Hope you understand what I mean. Thanks

Nope. Mediator gfx cards do not have AGA scandoubling so they are just for workbench.
If you had a Plasma / LCDTV you could connect the ATI to the monitor via VGA and regular AGA/ECS/OCS via RGB SCART. If you had a Picasso IV gfx card then everything would just work. If you don't need the gfx card feature then you could just get an Indivision A4000/CD32 board. It is by far your cheapest solution. |

The BlizzardVisionPPC is a graphics card connected directly to the BlizzardPPC accelerator. You can find the specs of both these devices on various Amiga hardware resource sites.
The BVPPC does not have a scandoubler so you won't be able to see the AGA modes through the same VGA connector, but you can still of course have two monitors connected (or one monitor with both VGA and SCART inputs or whatever is best for you). |

In between. They come up for auction once every 2 months or so for about €180

Hey, I'm selling it for what I paid for.
![]() From what I saw, the user connect the composhit output from Amiga to the capture card and start a PIP screen, then put it on full-screen (or to the max it can be enlarged), then fire up the WHDLoad game and for some "magic" the PIP screen will be the output on monitor. If only I can locate the post again... Was in A.troll, some years now. I never used a capture card on my Mediator. |

I did have my Mediator setup this way with a tv card for showing native output. when executing a whd game it would run a script to fireup SuperTV in fullscreen and close it on exit. Looks quite rough though with composite capture. I imagine it would have looked better if I had svideo available.

You know that is very easy to grab S-Video directly from inside the Amiga video encoder, right?
![]() Two transistors, some resistors and a capacitor and the S-Video socket. |
