Another World - Amiga's version is shorter??

At the time I had amiga I never completed this game. Later on I completed it on Genesis and couple of days ago I played amiga version. There is a big part of the game missing?!

Is it possible that Genesis (Megadrive in EU) and SNES versions have more levels then Amiga's version??

Yes some versions are longer.

Actually here the creator of the game explains the differences between the various versions -

The PC version is also longer -

Quote:
The PC DOS version :
The articles released at the time criticized the short lifespan of the Amiga version. So Delphine Software suggested I extend it. I had a few ideas left which were enough to make an entire level. However, I didn't want to break the global rhythm of the game, so it was impossible to add anything after the end of the game. The ideal location was just before the arena when the friend rescues Lester at the end of a long dead-end corridor. I decided to reinforce the close relationship between the hero and the alien, by developing their mutual aid. The only problem is that I only had two months to achieve everything. I was back on working 16 hours a day, 7/7. Eventually, that level brought a lot to the game. This version was ported by Daniel Morais.

That explains it. Thanks laffer!

Yes, that level was well made just the same as rest of the game. I like part with those black animals from start of the game.

Can the data files not be used with the Amiga engine to play the 'fullest' version of the game somehow?

Too bad an 'extended version' was never released for amiga..
Such a great game - but so easy to finish.

Porting RAW to the Amiga wouldn't be too hard. It uses SDL, is very fast and although the source code isn't available anymore, it can be found with a simple google search.

Added level is harder then other levels and there are couple cool scenes. That would be great addition to amiga version of the game!

Here is a secret death that seems to be unknown by the majority of Another World (Out of this World in the US and OuterWorld in Japan).

If you wait for 2 or 3 minutes after taking the laser gun, a small UFO comes from the top-left side of the screen and shoot a laser at you when you are beneath it.

Does anyone know which level exactly is the "extra" one not seen in the Amiga version?

Yup, in the Amiga version you start at the pool / spa level, then fall down after the laser blast, you are immediately at the last stage where the bad alien kicks you and you have to pull the switches etc...

On the other versions you start at the pool / spa level, you don't fall down from the laser blast, your alien friend then throws you onto a canapy and there's another stage before getting to the bad alien kicking you etc...

Sorry, hard to explain. Here's a screenshot from the remake that show it's:

Trying to find a better explaination than my one for you

Edit: you can read about the different versions on the Official site --> Versions:

Either check walkthrough or play the game (SNES or Gens version).

Definitely, I would go with the SNES version personally

Also, laffer has already posted the information in this thread... See post #2
