Second Samurai AGA: controls useless

I cannot play this game, it has had this error since forever.
I get to the Options screen but then the controls don't work. I cannot press START ever. It's like the directions go crazy and are always pushing UP.

The comment I put on GB Amiga for this was

Important: If playing a 1 player game, disable the mouse

Try it and see how you get on.

Oh is that what it is? Kinda lame.
Is the original also that way? I feel like this could be fixed by the install. ANy takers?

[edit]I just tested it and it didn't work. Disabled the mouse in WinUAE, same shit. Uncontrollable up/down direction and every time I press fire it opens the OPTIONS MENU from which I cannot exit.

I have this problem on my real Amiga 1200 too. Tried everything. This patch needs an update badly.

I'm glad to see it isn't just me, this install is really old and nobody has fixed it. I can't even find it in the official WHDLoad page so no idea how to report a problem.

Hopefully someone here can take the gauntlet and make it right.

Oh I see, that is for both AGA and OCS, I didn't know they were merged.
I never used Mantis and have no idea what to do with it. I'm hoping one of the more active patchers will jump in on this, because I don't think Mr. Larmer and Bored Seal do much WHD stuff anymore.

[edit] turns out I had a Mantis account! So I reported this issue. Here's hoping it gets fixed soon.

That issue had a few Amiga Games
( f.e. FIFA comes to mind )

They Expect a Joystick in Port 1.

A simple fix is to unplug they mouse, or better, use a (Auto)Switch on port 1
which is always handy for some Multiplayer fun

That isn't the issue. Did you read what was talked before in the thread? The game does the same even with a mouse unplugged.

Did you switch off mouse BEFORE game? Switching off mouse while game is in main menu does't help, game remember last mouse input. You must switch off mouse on WHDLoad splash screen, not when game is already running.

They expect joysticks in BOTH ports, that's all

So i bet software switching ports doesn't help, it will be just mouse input for 2nd player.

I`ve an auto switch for maus/joystick and tried the press joystick fire button while splash screen. It doesn`t really help. My experience is that some games have this issue. For example the game Bratwurst (Aminet) has a similar problem with menu- and game control.

I can only talk about the real hardware... ( no winuae .. sorry )
When a Hardware-Maus/Joystick switcher is used,
simply pressing the firebutton on the second joystick sets port 1 to a joystick.

After that, i can use the menues in second samurai normally.

At least, it works in my case.
Greetings, Nib

This isn't in the least bit simple. Even if we have to disconnect the mouse. Those of us using WHDLoad are probably running games off Workbench, therefore mouse is needed.
A fix is in place and Stingray is in the case so I hope he can figure it out.

EDIT: on the floppy version this does NOT happen. I can start a game. So it isn't just how it is supposed to be.
