Hi!

I just found out about this dock and tried it. It is very useful.
As much as I like the icons, with the limited colours available on the Workbench,
I tried to find the setting for a "only text" mode but with no avail.

Is it possible at all?

Would someone else love an "only text" mode?

And it would be neat if the name of the entry could be chosen. Sometimes the file name could be too long for the dock.

I love WBDock2, been using it since release. Only thing I would love is an Iconify option, unless I have missed it? Also, nice to see AmigaOS 1.3 Gets some love. First class!

You didn't miss it, it's not documented. You can activate the window and press the H key to hide it. It does not iconify as in create an icon on the desktop, but it adds a menu item to the Workbench tools menu.

The other undocumented key combination is Ctrl-C which quits the program.

Thanks thomas, the H is very useful, but it would also need a Key to make the Dock reappear, this would be useful on AROS 68k where in the Tools Menu no item appears.

Thanks a lot!

I could ditch ToolManager and I replaced it with WBDock. So far I'm loving it!

As an user of AmigaForever, the last thing I got left to do to replace TM is find a way to get the LhA to RAM feature working...

Long explanation:

the current WBDock2 archive contains a program called wbex.
- Make a copy of it and call it LhA->RAM.
- Use IconEdit or a similar program to change the icon to look like an unarchiver.
- Open icon information and change the tooltypes to
TOOL=Execute S:lha_extract.bat
WINDOW=CON:20/300/600/180/Cloanto LhA->RAM/CLOSE/WAIT
- add it to the wbdock

One difference remains: when it says "press enter to close the window" you have to click the close button instead.

Short:
just use the attached icon
Attached Files
File Type: lha LhaToRam.lha (3.8 KB, 126 views)

Works a treat, thank you!

Bonus points for editing lha_extract.bat and editing the "press enter to close the window" statement with something like "close this window to continue" or something like that.

Bonus ball for wbex! I suppose we can recycle it to run all sorts of CLI programs and scripts from WBDock...

End of the line for ToolManager, not a second too soon also.

I would be interested in having an option to change the format etc of the clock gadget too. Maybe a font option, and making the TIME bigger compared to the date and month.

Hi Thomas and thanks for this excellent tool.
I saw that WBDock creates a Workbench window. That creates a problem in Intuition refresh (not on my RTG OS3.9 but on my ECS OS3.2.1 environment) when changing ScreenMode, saving on VisualPrefs etc, unless closed.
It's not such a problem for me closing WBDock, applying whatever I want and re-opening it again, but is there a workaround to avoid that?

Hello there.

How can I achieve a dock effect like the one in Coffin where there is no visible dock around the icons. I want to be able to see just the icons one next to the other and no frame or anything around them. I think Coffin uses WBDock2 as well. How can I do it?

Coffin uses png images that were created specifically to be next to the other with minimal separation line.
Just open SYS:WBStartup/WBDOCK in an editor and check it out.

The png icons if you wanna experiment are located on SYS:Icons/Barjack/Docks

Hello MFilos. Yes I have taken the icons from coffin but when I use them on WBDock there is still a frame over them. I also checked the tooltypes of WBDock in the WBStartup folder. I used the same tooltypes in my dock but still the dock doesn’t change.

Can you take a screenshot of Coffin? some versions of Coffin use the Doc embedded in Dopus5 Magellan, quite a complex menu and not very configurable, in other cases cases he also used modified Amistart, better WBDock or Amistart Standard

If your WBDock looks like this:

you probably have AmiDock style set up.

If you would like it to look like this:

you should have MagicWB style set.

Check in WBDock icon tooltips in WBStartup whether STYLE=A or STYLE=M.
