Question Is it possible to boot into PAL mode on an NTSC A500?

I have a rev 6a A500 and when I hold down the mouse buttons at boot I get the Amiga Early Startup Control screen. On this screen I can change the display options to PAL, or press a key to switch to PAL, but these don't appear to affect how the machine actually boots.

Is it possible to get the slightly higher resolution of PAL on this machine?

Yes... I'm a n00b...

Found the Overscan and ScreenMode preferences programs.

Now I've got a 718x280 desktop. Not a lot bigger, but every bit helps.

I guess you could put the 'PAL' file from the storage disk in the devs:Monitors drawer. Afterwards you should be able to select PAL screenmodes in the Workbench preferences without switching to PAL in the Early Startup menu.
