That is an amazing machine, never heard of it but having read the Wiki page, what a capable machine for its age. Well ahead of its time. Nice work.
Are games easy to find for it? |

Wow, I didn't realise they were so big and built like tanks!!!! Very nice machine to own - I would have loved the bragging rights as a kid to own one of those!
Excellent post - thanks for the pics. You can get some Sharpe x68 EMU's for those who want to try it out. This was basically an arcade board in your home, same duel 68000 CPU's as capcom CPS boards, but it it cost an absolute fortune back in the day - probably why it was never sold abroad. As such it was perfect for arcade ports, much better suited than the Amiga which mainly had poor ports, but didn't have the range of quality games we came to enjoy. Plus the Amiga has better sounding music, but not as many channels. Arcade and console style games - this was the king! However you won't find Super Cars, Hybris, Speedball, Turrican, Stuntcar Racer etc or any of those kind of cult games on the system. I think overall the Amiga was the better all round machine, but the Sharpe had the specs to impress! Last edited by Bloodwych; 05 August 2010 at 10:26. |

@8bitbubsy
I got it from an american living in japan, he s on ebay. but i contacted him outside ebay so saved some money! ![]() @rkauer Coze would actually come in handy i got an error message when trying to run SF2 from the HD. Is he japanese? i think i get the installation bit ok. @Hewitson The sound is awesome in my opinion. not quite as good as Amiga's as someone said but it has that hard pumping sound that arcade have. My machine is connected to an Amp and speakers so i get it full on! ![]() @BrooksterMax There are games you can find but there are gems that are more rare and probs pricey. But i m working on trying to download games and put them on the HD! ![]() |

oh forgot to mention 2 things... 1) this has a new PSU fitted (as the default are meant to be pretty bad!) and 2) the system isnt as big as it looks!

CPS also was 68000+z80, not dual 68000. |

My mistake Silver - friend had one a while back and I swore he said 16Mhz 68000 CPU, so I must have thought dual 7Mhz chips!
I just splurted out the impression I got from it all those years back. |

i m pretty sure that there were systems that had 68000@10mhz and ones that were overclocked to 16mhz. some even had an 030 fitted!

Wow beautiful! I think the top gear consoles back in the days were the Sharp X68000, Amiga, PCE Duo and FM-Towns Marty! I love those old school ports.
Can you please take some hires shots of the case from all sides? I think the X68000 still looks amazing to this day, better than all the ugly pc cases and even better than the stuff from Apple. |

Is there anybody here who emulates this system and can recommend me emulation tools (emu, bios ...) plus good and interesting "exclusive" titles?
System that Frederica the Greatest loves must be good for gaming, no doubt about that. Unfortunately I am a Sharp virgin. Congrats on your purchase CU_AMiGA! |

WinX68k Highspeed is a decent Sharp X68000 emulator. Exclusive games? Mostly perfect 1:1 Arcade ports like Ghouls'n'Ghosts or Strider.
