I'm sure Kipper2K that you get some interesting responses, maybe even some in different languages too.

Hey there!

Any chance of purchasing an 8mb/IDE board with socketer adapter for the A1000?

Well my 8 mb compact flash board for the Amiga 500 arrived. Installed it, got it to power on, and it is showing extra ram. Yah!!

Are there any tutorials on how to format the compact flash to a useable drive? Also it seems when this does come up this is showing up as drive zero which negates the built in floppy.

I don't believe it would go in place of DF0. Even if you made a partition with the device name DF0, scsi.device would rename it to DF0.0 before adding it to the device list.

Use hdtoolbox from your 3.1 install disk to partition the drive. There are many tutorials about this on this subforum as well, just use the search function on the top of the page.

Alright, looks like the HDToolBox sees... SCSI 0 0 Unknown. Probably need to change that to IDE. Looking for a tutorial at this point...

It sounds right, so you need to let HDToolBox read the parameters of the drive. After that is done, you can start partitioning it.
It will never show IDE as IDE is handled by scsi.device.

Thanks for the confirmation Demolition on what it would take to partition the internal drive. I have a 2 gb Toshiba flash card with Workbench 3.1 working now.

Kipper2k.... nice product, thanks for making this! I never imagined I would be able to find a internal hard drive and memory upgrade for the Amiga 5000 in 2014 for such a reasonable price.

@Kipper2k:

Just to let you know my 8MB board arrived today (2-Jul-2014) was stamped 18-Jun-2014, which means it took two weeks to arrive... The Zorro connector works perfectly.

I'd like to report that without the A508, SYSinfo reports my 68010 processor machine is x1.07 faster than an A600 but with the A508, my machine is x1.42 faster though it still reports the processor running at 7.09MHz. Anybody else see this?

It's normal to see a 33% speed increase from adding any real fastram expansion to an unexpanded A1000, A500, A500+, A600, or A2000. That's what makes fastram fastram.

I have 9MB RAM in my A500, 8MB Fast RAM, 512K Chip RAM and 512K Slow RAM and some demos in WHDLoad refuses to run insisting I need 1MB Chip RAM when I can run them off floppies without any problems. <facepalm>

Yes, WHDLoad slaves usually need more chip mem than the original game. You can rewire your slow mem to become chip mem so you'll have 1MB chip.
