Omega Sound Enhancer
i had an "omega sound enhancer" back in the day, which then got butchered for use on my pc, and then dissapeared into my childhood, lost forever.
i remember opening it up and it was a single IC with a pot resistor, sound audio inputs and an LED. anyone know what that IC was, anyone got a spec sheet of that little gizmo? it didnt look the same as the one here: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...sound+enhancer it was smaller, but i suspect the internals were the same. |

you plugged it between the amiga and hifi/amp you listend to the sound on, and at the press of a button it made the sound *much* better, "fuller" would best descibe it, anyone who's had one will vouch for it i'm sure.
not sure how else to descibe it. |

It probably made a "wide stereo" delay effect, which makes the Amiga sound better in a stereo hifi system (otherwise it sounds too sepparated).
Try loading an Amiga mod in deliplayer and turning on "wide stereo", see if it is the same effect. You could replicate this (like I did) with any delay multiFx box that has the 'wide stereo" effect. Mine was a Zoom EFX-300 multifx. |

I also found it best to run the output of an Amiga thru an equilizer and/or sound processor/noise reduction unit. I used a Sanyo unit that I had imported from Japan that has both an equilizer and noise reduction, this made it sound mighty fine indeed, especially when I hooked up an extra pair of speakers to the rear

Unfortunately the OSE box is Riveted shut and so I cannot take a look inside. HOWEVER Omega Projects are still going (although they dont sell them anymore and they've changed their name at least once) and it's such a small company that I bet someone who was technical still works there. (looks for the URL) I cannot find it... but the sound enhancer is still on their webpage in the history section |

One thing I should point out that the one I have is a Omega Projects Sound Enhancer MK2. Not sure if the MK1 looked the same, but mine is definately a MK2.
People complained about not enough BASS and so the MK2 has better bass performance. |
