Anyone have a link to Cannon Fodder ADFs that are able to save game with Gotek

So I tried alot of different ADFs and have not found a version that will enable my Gotek to do savegame on a blank ADF created with WinUAE. I use the latest Cortex firmware and have no plans on installing HXC firmware on any of my Goteks. This is a known problem with Cannon Fodder, Gotek and Cortex firmware but have seen people post in various places that they were able to save successfully with certain versions of Cannon Fodder. But I never found what versions they were using. I can save in other games I tried.

And there is no point creating a custom ADF in WinUAE because it will not work with a Gotek and Cortex firmware. Only regular 880KB blank ADFs.

Already tried these:

Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr CSL]
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)(Disk 2 of 3)[cr CSL][b]
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)(Disk 3 of 3)[cr CSL]
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)[cr FLT](Disk 1 of 3)
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)[cr FLT](Disk 1 of 3)[a]
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)[cr FLT](Disk 1 of 3)[t +4 PDX]
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)[cr FLT](Disk 2 of 3)
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)[cr FLT](Disk 3 of 3)

So after some research I think it's impossible to make a save game in Cannon Fodder using a Gotek with Cortex firmware because Cannon Fodder requires a custom ADF that I can make with WinUAE and this is 2MB instead of 880KB. Gotek will not support this. I can format it fine, but when trying to save it will not reckognise the disk.

I find it strange because I seen several posts of people claiming to save with Gotek using certain Cannon Fodder adf versions

on the grandis.nu server I found these
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr FLT][f load - save FLT][a].zip 26.02.2016, 18.16.00
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr FLT][f load - save FLT][t +4 PDX].zip 697 kB 26.02.2016, 18.16.00
Cannon Fodder (1993)(Virgin)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr FLT][f load - save FLT][t +5 MST].zip 698 kB 26.02.2016, 18.16.00

They say "load - save" in their names. What are these? I already tried them and tried to format and save to a regular 880KB ADF. Will format but not detect the disk and save. They still need custom 2MB disk. For Cannon Fodder 2 which uses a regular 880KB disk for saving I was not able to format it on the Gotek but could download a disk and both load and save to it. So Cannon Fodder 2 is fine.

I think those are in extended format. Still more than 880k though.

Those files I posted are just 880KB various Disk 1 versions of Cannon Fodder. I was just wondering what the "load - Save" name in them was good for. All ADF save files I've found for Cannon Fodder is the extended 2MB versions. There seems to be no way to get this working on a Gotek with Cortex firmware, unless there is a modded version of Cannon Fodder that will accept 880KB ADF savedisk, like Cannon Fodder 2.

BTW, I can use real floppies or whdload. I have all kinds of Amigas and setups, but I like to figure out stuff and get all kinds of stuff working. And sometimes I just want to play from a Gotek drive with the standard Cortex firmware. So far I only know of Cannon Fodder that cannot make savegames on Gotek.

I know all the save disks in TOSEC are extended .ADFs so larger than normal but...

Surely you are able to make a 880kb save disk using a real Amiga (forgetting the Gotek for a minute)? How did people do this back in the day?

Do extended disks work in your Gotek? Here is one that proclaims to be in extended format. Doesn't work in WinUAE.

No, extended adf will not work in the Gotek. I get extended adf for Cannon Fodder to work in WinUAE without a problem. You have to format it within Cannon Fodders menu.

Yes, there is no problem making the disk on a real floppy drive and run it. But it formats as a Ndos custom disk so when converted to adf it needs to be in extended format to work properly. And the Gotek does not support other than the standard 880KB adf format.

Of course I could play use real floppies or whdload. I have all options. But I still want to get a working Cannon Fodder savedisk for the Gotek

Yeah. I tried that. It comes up as "format failed" with this disk. Using a custom image is no problem though.

Just a thought; If you had a real Amiga drive as DF*, whatever, could you use the Gotek to play the game and the real drive to save to?

Yeah, I actually thought about that. But I still want to have a working save disk for Cannon Fodder on the Gotek. I have two Gotek drives setup on one of my A500s (DF0 and DF1) and have cloned the USB sticks. So I kinda want a pure Gotek Amiga.

One of the posts I found was comments from the Cortex page itself where a person was talking about not getting disk swapping and saving to work in his Gotek and Cannon Fodder. Then a few posts later he said it was working using different ADFs for Cannon Fodder. But I assume he had the disk swapping working. There was no mention about saving the game. So I actually have no confirmation that anyone has made a successful Cannon Fodder save on a Gotek with Cortex firmware.

So unless there is some hacked ADF version of the game itself which will make a normal save disk when you format (like Cannon Fodder 2 which does not use extended ADF) then I think it would be impossible. I refuse to give up. This will probably bug me for some time to come.
