Sharing internet connection, amiga/pc
OK, I got a 3com PCMCIA network card 10MBPS, and made the amiga/pc communicate with each other (I also tested with Amiga Explorer, no probs whatsoever)
The firewall on the local connection is OFF,I have made the modem connection of the pc shareable between lan computers, but on the amiga side I get no internet... pinging the machines works fine, and winxp reports besides the dial-up a 10MBPS LAN connection... what do I do to browse with the amiga? I use winxp-pro sp2 and os3.9 BB2 |

Add your DNS servers on the Amiga side, that should do it.

Also set the "gateway" to the PC's IP address. You might have a problem if you're using dynamic IP addresses - last time I tried to set that up, I discovered that the standard Windows routing program ("Internet Connection Sharing", or some such cobblers) only works if you're using DHCP, whilst the Amiga (under Miami, at least) can only use a routed connection if the whole network is using static IP addresses.
Solution? I got a Multiface 3 I/O extender, with a fast serial socket, and used the Amiga as the router. Then I got a Smoothwall box instead. |

Well... I forgot the gateway bit, thanks ant
And all this should work, yes, but keep in mind, I never got Internet Connection Sharing on XP working correctly, so you might run into problems. Even if I was able to get my Mac pinging the PC and viceversa, Internet wouldn't share on the Mac. ICS is shit and you should use a decent, thirdparty gateway like Sygate. With Sygate all works fine here and it's a breeze to set up. If I had a PCMCIA NIC the Amiga would be connected no problems. |

XP's fault I guess. Install SyGate.
