I always thought a pinball game would do well in HAM, even more so in HAM8.
My idea would be to mask the right side of objects with hw sprites (it would take a bit of processing to calculate the RGB changes needed to fix it up to be correct to the right of objects, but there are always optimizations to try). |

Yeah, UBEK looks like HAM. In Rebel GW24 it's the cutscenes (screenshots #2 and #3)? Would like some second opinions about both games. |

@remz
If you tell me what you need to prove your idea in real time, maybe I can arrange an exe to "only" see your gfx into action. |

I was checking various ways to use the blitter efficiently for drawing 16x16 tiles (which are 192 bytes each in HAM interleaved). I was comparing blithog vs non-hog: I seam to reach the simplified conclusion that for small blits, non-hog is more efficient because the CPU setup time for preparing the next blit is done in parallel. Blithog probably would win for large blits however. |

if you have fastmem, HOG or not HOG it runs in parallel. But yes if you're targetting a vanilla A1200 / full chip machine, turn off HOG if you want parallel, only enable HOG when you HAVE to wait for blitter to finish. |
