2.4.0 WHDLoad issue with Hybris / Jim Power
I am having issues with 2 WHDLoad games, Jim Power and Hybris.
Both games work perfectly with 2.3.3 and both have issues with 2.4.0. in 2.4.0. Hybris speeds up at odd intervals Jim power will not sync properly, juddery scrolling etc Here are the WHDLoad settings: <Game Name="Hybris" FileName="WHDLoad\Hybris_v2.1_1457.zip" ScrnshotFilename="H/Hybris.png" UseMouse="True" PalNTSC="0" Cd="dh1:Hybris;" WHDLoad="Hybris.slave PRELOAD CUSTOM1=1;" UAEConfig="cpu_speed=real|immediate_blits=true|cpu_compatible=true|cpu_cycle_exact=true|blitter_cycle_exact=true|cycle_exact=true" /> <Game Name="Jim Power in Mutant Planet" FileName="WHDLoad\JimPower_v1.1_0068.zip" ScrnshotFilename="J\Jim_Power_in_Mutant_Planet.png" UseMouse="True" PalNTSC="0" Cd="dh1:JimPower;" WHDLoad="JimPower.slave PRELOAD;" UAEConfig="collision_level=playfields|cpu_speed=real|immediate_blits=false|cpu_compatible=false|cpu_cycle_exact=false|blitter_cycle_exact=false|cycle_exact=false" /> I think I have exhausted every combination of options, d3d/ddraw, filters, processors, memory, sync etc What ever I try I can only get one game to run as it should, not both. I have tried fresh installs of both 2.3.3 and 2.4.0, deleting all registry keys, recreating the config file - everything I can think of. Most other games are fine for me in 2.4.0, all games are perfect in 2.3.3 Config and logs: (config) WHDLoad.uae (2.3.3) winuaebootlog.txt (2.3.3) winuaelog.txt (2.4.0) winuaebootlog.txt (2.4.0) winuaelog.txt Any suggestions most welcome Thanks |

At least your first config is weird, cycle exact and immediate blitter.
One possible reason is "instant" immediate blitter in 2.4. Non-smooth scrolling is normal unless 50Hz and vsync enabled. Or do you mean tearing? You need triple buffering if you don't want tearing in non-vsync. |

720x576 is 50hz and vsync is enabled in both 2.3.3 and 2.4.0, all other games sync and scroll perfectly - shadow of the beast series, turrican series, pinball fantasies etc..
Sorry about the strange config for Hybris - I have arrived here by trying every combination of switches (nothing helps). I have reset the config to the one used for Jim Power. The only way I can get Hybris to sync in 2.4.0 is to change the CPU from 68020 to a 68000, nothing else seems to help. Is there anything I can do to check if the "instant" blitter is the cause? Hmm.. I am sure there was nothing about vsync when I checked it..
Anyway, most likely reason is faster (possibly much faster) fastest possible CPU mode. I did say in beta change logs that it is guaranteed to break programs that don't like too fast CPU. |

I had the exact same Jim Power issue as you, but only with the latest WinUAE 2.7.0 beta series. Hybris was already sorted with the suggestion by Retro-Nerd (thanks dude), but Jim Power WHDLoad kept showing the interruption in the scrolling with the beta series, while running perfectly smooth with same configuration in 2.6.1. Now, while trying to build a proper (and simple) test-case for Toni I found that the problem has magically disappeared while rebuilding my complete A1200+HD+Picasso setup step-by-step from scratch. So if you're still suffering from the scrolling problems with WHDLoad Jim Power in recent WinUAE versions, maybe rebuilding you entire config from scratch will also fix the issue for you? Worth a try I guess.. |
