CD32 emulation

*grumbles* searching for "cd32 problems" spewed out 51 pages of totally unrelated results *grumbles*

Now....I've downloaded (from back2roots) a couple of CD32 thingies. The problem is....the CD32 emulation refuses to recognize my Alcohol-mounted image. The images appear to work well enough, I can view the filelistings with TotalCommander and such..... but the emulated CD32 refuses to go....

I've enabled "uaescsi.device", I've tried to "add directory" in the harddrive section (which I knew was a mistake, but I tried anyways) and zip is happening. Apart from the cd32 screen which tells me essentially to insert disk.

I've tried the quickstart config, and I've tried "just" to use my own settings.

Only thing I've not tried, is to burn and use in my external DVD drive...... (I've got 4 HD's in the computer, and so it's the only cd-capable drive I have, apart from Alcohol/Daemon/other CD emulationals.

The problem probably is that with Alcohol you now have multiple CD-ROM drives and the emulated CD32 only sees the first one. I don't remember right now if WinUAE offers you to choose which drive to use. If it doesn't, you have to make sure that the Alcohol drive is the first one recognised by WinUAE. I also don't remember how to do this. Perhaps by forcing the drives to specific drive letters. At least in SPTI mode.

My guess: common ASPI problem, some versions of ASPI won't see all CDROMS. Check winuaelog.txt for more information.

Suggestions:

a) select SPTI (if you have Windows 2000/XP/newer + admin privileges)
b) Install Nero Burning ROM (demo version is fine) and select NeroASPI in misc-panel.
c) install older or newer version of Adaptec's ASPI and hope it helps..

uaescsi.device must be unticked.

WinUAE will automatically scan all drives for CD32/CDTV/AudioCD when in CD32-mode.

1. have you tried the SPTI Scsi setting in WinUAE?
2. don't have programs open thats points/browse directly to your CD image, like the total commander or the windows explorer
3. is it working with daemon tools?

Edit: sorry Toni, you was a few seconds faster.
