Is the typical Amiga old-timer an Android or iOS user today?
I was wondering, is there a pattern to bee seen?
I myself use Android phones (although I do have an iPad lying around too) but I never liked the limitations of iOS and maybe I wanted to support the underdog that Android was when it was released. Or maybe it was Steve Jobs "reality distortion field" that made me dodge shiny Apple-toys... Anyhoo.. what do you say, is there a connection between Amiga users in the 90s and the choice of OS in your smartphone today? |

lol nope
ANdroid and IOS devices were done for the dumbest masses, nothing related to the amiga users in the 90s, most of them were young male and adolescents |

Of the 2 I favor Android, not because I'm particularly a fan, but because I find it the lesser of 2 evils. The devices are also available at much more reasonable prices, and don't impose the same sorts of artificial restrictions.
I also loathe Apple, and detest the fact they get away with murder. More monopolistic than MS ever have been, yet things MS weren't allowed to do no-one bats an eyelid over. All this on the back of no work of particular value (at least ms have developed industry leading APIs, amongst other things), yet they've marketed themselves as innovative. Way too much credit where its not deserved. Apple: Think Differently (as long as you do it exactly as you're told). |

Me too!
I mean, I just need (sometimes) a phone! When I need a computer I seat at my desk... or (unfortunately) I am at work... Anyway, to stay on-topic. If I really had to use a smartphone I'd choose Android but I'd probably uninstall as much pre-installed software as possible. |

Android here - I patch/install/hack stuff to my heart's content
Came from iOS, which while is still a good OS and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to non-power users, it definitely didn't cut it for me Also no Amiga emulators in the App Store? C'moooon Apple! At least I've got them in the Play Store |

I don't think Amiga old-timers have any common preferences for phones. I use a "dumb-phone" with a touch-screen myself, and when it breaks I will probably get a similar one, just because they're generally cheaper and because I only need basic phone functionality.
If I had to pick between an Android and an iPhone, I would definitely take the Android. |

I hacked my old(2007 LG KU990) Java based dumbphone to look like an Android Phone.
Even that is more than enough... Bought it second hand from a colleague, a few years ago, when my really old NOKIA 3210 died. The former owner was like "WTF - How did you do that". I'm afraid in the, not so far, future we will all be forced to use smartphones because there will be nothing else available anymore. |

Android here - a Motorola Moto X. Amazing to think that it has 3.4Ghz of processor in such a tiny case, even the fastest Amiga processor was something like 75Mhz. I tend to think of Apple stuff as looking a bit nicer and being slightly easier to use, but costing twice as much and not communicating with non-Apple devices as well (so once you have one you really need everything). My MP3 player is ancient and I have a generic tablet, but both more than enough. Even my PC is five years old, time was when I upgraded after 18-24 months and replaced after 3 years.

The next moto x will have a snapdragon 808, so 2ghz is a possibility.
