Amiga 4000 PSU Fan Mod
As you all know the original A4000D PSU fan is pretty noisy, so I'd like to upgrade it to something quieter, but also hopefully better. I found a few old threads but nothing recent, so just thought I'd ask if people still think this is the best replacement:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130785210767 If not, any others I should look at? Also when I come to fit it, what precautions do I need to take when opening up and working on the PSU? I'm reasonably competent at soldering and working with motherboards etc but I am always cautious of anything that says 'Do Not Open' on it Thanks. |

I fitted the new fan today, and wow what a difference! It is almost silent compared to the hoover-like noise it was making before. A must-have upgrade if you haven't done it! Here's a quick photo. I opted for soldering the wires together rather than trying to unsolder the old fan from the board.

Replacing the fan is nice
This seems like a nice fan who's quiet and has also some nice CFM \o/ I also cut the metal backplate where the holes for airflow exist for even better airflow and hasn't failied me ever since http://mfilos.blogspot.com/2011/08/a4000-psu-mod.html |
