The Mousetrap music is Claude Debussy's "Golliwog's Cakewalk".

The sample looping, or lack thereof on otherwise professional games has always puzzled me to no end. Some of those sampled songs could've been really nice - Chariots of Wrath for example - but after all the work that has gone into composing and sampling them they're ultimately ruined in the last minute by simple over or undercutting the loops.

I extracted the samples from some games back in the day and getting them to loop nicely / eliminate snapping after that was basically a matter of few seconds.

just reminded me of the Michael Jackson Moonwalker game, the first track on that is really badly looped, the rest don't seem as bad though.

why did all these supposedly really high-profile franchises get made by groups nobody has heard of? Does it just go to the lowest bidder or what?

It was a conspiracy so the Amiga would fail before it's time...
Either that or nobody had a f**king clue what they were doing.

However it seems to me of another case of "we have no budget, just make the PC version run", and so the guy did got all the blame...

I really enjoyed the music in Agony. Definitely not the worst on Amiga by any means.

The worst music I've ever heard in Amiga game is intro music in Ultra Violent Worlds. When I first heard it I thought that music file was corrupt.

You can hear it here:

The sampled "track loops" were the worst offenders in my opinion, not only were they very lazy, they didn't even loop properly.

What is it about rodent games? For me, [ Show youtube player ] closely followed by [ Show youtube player ] takes the cake as the worst "music" ever. They should play this in an endless loop to rapists and murderers in prison as a form of torture.

Haha! Radar Rat Race was one of the first C64 games we had because it was on cartridge and came in a 'Family Pack'. We normally turned the TV volume way down because of the annoying 3 blind mice loop.

On the Amiga - I always hated David Whittaker music because the tune and samples were so simple and rarely changed for each game. It sounded like chip music although it took around 64k of memory. It's as though he put the least effort possible just to make the sound 'good enough' and left it at that. This was sadly appropriate because they seemed to be written for Atari ST ports that only required the game to 'just work' on the Amiga. Whenever I started loading a game and heard that 'wet fish' snare drum I prepared myself for disappointment.

What was worse is that he probably took work away from more aspiring musicians that actually wanted to make good use of the Amiga sound.

Programmer: "We have a game finished for the Atari ST, now we just have to port it to the Amiga. Should we write code to make use of: Hardware scrolling, sprites, more colours, better sound?"

"No. fuck it, we'll just get Whittaker to make the music and ship it. He'll probably only take a couple of hours."

you know what, i actually kinda like that, it's a bit avante garde, reminds me of The Simpsons theme.

If we are also doing non-Amiga music, the "music" on Tron Maze-a-Tron on Intellivision used to make my dad angry
[ Show youtube player ]
i never thought it was music so much as "electronics sounds" but my dad insisted it was music and as such was infuriatingly bad given that he'd paid money for it.

(My dad gets angry at lots of stuff, one time he got in a huff over a deodorant advert on the television)

(and i can hear that simpson vibe also )

It just dosen´t "click" for me, which is weird, because i like avante garde stuff

Acutually , i like the "TRON - MAZE A Tron" way more ( it has something to it, and there is definitely a "hidden beat" in it
. quit interesting)

Hmmmm maybe i was spoiled on the NES with this kind of Stuff ... ...

(but only listen if you want to hear 8 Bit Music greatness)
[ Show youtube player ]
both are wort listen to from start to end IMHO
[ Show youtube player ]

(Not too many people know these ones, but everyone knows Megaman & co) i always loved those and i still do
