@enigma776

If you need a player for .ogg files you can use "DAPlayer" or "FFPlay" which work very well on OS3.

Had major issues running WinAmp 3.29 with Sonnet PPC and External PPC Engine. Same Setup, same config works fine with 3.28. When updating to 3.29 CPU Load is 100% on 68060 and the sound stutters terribly, whole system slows down.

However, when using Cyberstorm PPC everything runs well.

Did anything change from 3.28 to 3.29 how memory or WOS External decoder is addressed?

Only the PPC-version can decode ogg Vorbis & Opus in software.
The 68k version needs a hardware decoder like the Prisma Megamix to play ogg files.
I assume this is because the 68k version relies on mpega.library? It's just out of curiosity more than anything else, so it's not meant as a complaint.

I just mean that it doesn't seem like a hardware problem. If the hardware can cope with decoding mp3s it should be able to cope with decoding ogg-files, right? In my case: using a vampire 1200 card the average cpu-usage when AmigaAMP is playing a mp3-file is about 30%. Or are ogg-files more cpu-intensive to decode?

I think it's just a software problem apart from requiring a powerful Expansion on Amiga, since on OS3 "DAPlayer" or "FFPlay" run OGG files fine.

Engines/External isn't loaded with AmigaAMP 3.29. I discovered that recently. The equalizer may be enabled but it doesn't turn on (because of that?) now either. I'm using Paula AHI with my Cyberstorm 060/PPC. I'm pretty sure you meant AmigaAMP and not WinAMP. Hopefully he'll return the Engines, or at least put WarpOS back...or whatever has to be done.

I have the WOS version of mpega.library. I've been using it for years. This is also confirmed by reading mpega.library as a test file in DOpus and doing a text pattern search for "powerpc.library" which is found. Still, the EQ may be changed, but it doesn't enable even when the button is clicked. I can hear a big difference when it's enabled in previous versions of AmigaAMP. A bug?

AC/DC... yes, of cause AmigaAMP... that's the most ugly spelling mistake that can possibly happen to an amiga enthusiast, sorry for that ) ... I was looking for the Libmad WOS mpega.library version for a while without success, does someone here have it? And if so, would you mind to upload it to the Zone?

I'm pretty sure there must be a deeper change as with the Cyberstorm PPC all runs well in 3.29 while with Sonnet my 1Ghz G3 PPC the AmigaAMP blocks the entire system. 3.28 didn't have that problem.

Laughing. I was razzing you a bit. Nothing to apologize for. I knew what happened, you didn't check before send. Yeah, I've recently discovered also that the Libmad WOS mpega.library isn't at Aminet anymore. A newer version is without the WOS I've been using. I might also still have the release archive for it..I'll check.

I've been checking a little here and there as I create the moments to do so to check if it'll work with mpega.library (PowerUP)..haven't gotten it to yet. I stopped using PowerUP for WarpOS a long time ago, so.. I'll download the newest Libman soon and check it. I'm wondering if something isn't being passed to AmigaAMP from the WOS version? Yeah, there are differences that I've read about between CSPPC and Sonnet. Hmm..

The loading and decoding of my Libman WOS version is very quick, so...I know it works. I've considered installing OS 3.9 again but I don't like it...in part because of many bugs..but IS there something 'special' with that? I'm using OS 3.1, 3.5, 3.1.4.1, and 3.2. The logic points to no.

I haven't gotten around to asking for upload permission, so I'll do it here. Readme is also included for people who want it.

I can also get mpega.library PPC (PUP) functioning with ppc.library, but EQ still doesn't enable when turned on, the EQ volume and settings have zero effect this way as well.

Thannks for the MPEGA Libmab WOS... just tried it, same behavior... 3.29 AmigaAMP is not working together with Sonnet PPC solution, while 3.28 worked flawlessly.

You're welcome. Hmm, I wasn't sure it would help your configuration, but.. Now people may locate it.

A potential feature request - I use AmigaAMP with Ranchero (http://aminet.net/package/util/cdity/Ranchero) and it works really well for playing local files with GETTRACKINFO returning the playing file via AREXX.

When listening to internet radio streams, would it be possible to return the currently playing track name via GETTRACKINFO here too? At present it returns nothing, although the track name is displayed by AmigaAMP (so it has the information).

Amplifier does this, so I'm currently using it for streams, and AmigaAMP for local files - would be nice to just move to AmigaAMP.

Thanks

New update v3.31 only for 68k/OS3.9, This release fixes a bug that caused MHI playback to fail from recovery during high system load, e.g. 1920x1080 CVPPC screen switch. Link download in first page

@TomSoniq

On AROS 68k the new versions 3.x of AmigaAMP crash WinUAE when you try to play an mp3, an old 2.14 version works fine instead.

Hi all,
for the coming release 3.32 I'm working on bringing back the "external engine" support for OS3.x. The new interface involved will hopefully be more future-proof. The first proof of concept will be a WarpUP version of the "external engine" which requires WarpUp 5.1 (powerpc.library 16.1) or higher. I don't know why it doesn't work with older versions of WarpUP but I don't have the time to find out. It also works with WarpOSEmu under AmigaOS4, so my implementation can't be too wrong. ;-)

Initially the WarpUP "external engine" will only support mp2 and mp3 but I'm planning to add ogg and flac support later.

Ah, thanks! DAPlayer uses the Ogg Vorbis 'Tremor' integer playback codec. I'll have a look at that. Sounds promising.
