A (perhaps) peculiar question regarding A500 RAM expansions and RTC

For the owners of those magical A500 expansion boards that have both RTC and a switch to turn off the expansion.

When you turn it off, does it turn off only the RAM, but the RTC remains functional, or does the switch turns off the entire board, hence no RTC anymore?

Or is it on a board to board basis
