dos error 205
I've started downloading the gamepacks from killergorillas website, but I'm getting a dos error 205 object not found with about 80% of the games.
As far as I'm aware I have every kickstart. I am using winuae 1.2.0 and aiab (the latest one I think). |

Code:
205: Object not found The file has not been found. Check the spelling of the filename and if the disk is in the drive. |

Maybe the usual: always unpack amiga archives inside the emulation (just a guess without full paths, game names etc listed)
Not an emulation problem anyway. |

What are you unzipping them with?
Where are you unzipping them to? Give me an exact example of a game and filename that gives the error. |

What program are you using to decompress the archives? Have you tried doing this inside Amiga emulation (via CLI)?
Also thread moved to prb.Other Edit: killergorilla too fast |

all Dungeon master games, all eye of the beholder games, hero quest 1 and 2 nearly every Adventure.
I am using lzx and unzipping them within the emulator to a games folder. How do you unpack them using cli? Excuse my ignorance! |

Well you must be doing something wrong as I have no problems with these...
The filenames of the lzx files might have () or [] in their name, if so try removing them before unarchiving them, this may be the problem. |

Check directory structure within the archive and see if it matches the directory structure you just extracted. bye |

Sorry, I dont get you. I thought you could just unpack it to a folder and play the game. Ishar 1 2 and 3 work
but most of those types of game dont, very weird. I'm obviously doing something very basic wrong, just wish I knew what!! Last edited by aldo; 12 July 2006 at 00:44. |

What is the EXACT name of the program you are using?
Is it just LZX? If so, what commands (the EXACT commands) are you using (or what GUI) to unarchive the files? |

I am using lzx, I just doubleclick the icon then an unarc screen comes up asking where to save, I search for my games folder to save it to. I dont get how some games work and some dont! Most arcade games work fine(r type ghouls and ghosts etc) but 95% of adventures dont.

Well it definitely sounds as though the lzx files are being unarchived with the wrong directory structure as suggested above.
I've just checked the GnG and RType installs and neither contain subdirectories. Whereas most adventure games definitely will have subdirectories. You need to ensure that when you unarc the lzx, you extract the files with full paths. This may be a setting within unarc I'm not sure as I've never used that exact program. You can extract them manually using the command line with something such as: lzx x GameName.lzx Games: to see if they now work. |

I extracted it with shell as per your instructions, it extracted ok but I still got dos error 205 error when reading devs/kickstart a500 or something. The game was Indy and the fate of atlantis. What program do you use? |

Ah now we are talking!
You never said it was the kickstart files! The kickstart files aren't part of the game install, they need to go in Devs/Kickstarts I can't put them in the zone for you, but check your pm. Once these are there everything should be fine! |
