Here is an expensive one but it has nice photos
It is cheaper (at the moment ) but a seller with zero feedback isn't my ideal seller. Still i've asked for a picture of the back of the drive.

They will all have the standard 50-pin IDE ATAPI laptop connector.

I hope so. I want to know which side it is at so my JAE is at the correct side.

Ah!

I just had a look, the adapters are incredibly cheap... about £2.50 delivered!

I've already got a JAE. I did have a slim DVD ROM working with my A3000D until the drive went poof! I'm waiting for a replacement but that will go onto another project i'm planning. Ill get a slot loader for the A3000D.

To cut the 3000D case would be sacriledge. It would be equal to any of these;

Cutting a hole in the ark Jesus and all the animals went aboard
Cutting a piece of the magna carta off
Giving a KFC bucket to a customer with half of the contents in situe
Only giving Shoonay an eskimo kiss instead of a full snog
Only travelling half way to Stedy's house to give him a hug for his hardware prawn
Going back in time and having a wee on Lorraine in the secret Amiga booth
Kissing dizzy in the dark
Scribbling on a church wall that Jesus loves the Atari ST

etc.

Sacriledge. A common piece of junk like the A500 or A1200 makes no difference, but A3000s are too rare to mutilate.

I forgot to add, it will also bring 3000 years of shame to your family name.

You will also be awarded the 'Doom Master' trophy which means you go into exile for eternity!

The ark & Jesus are both fictional so you cannot really compare either act to that of cutting up an A3000.

OMG, heresy! Any KFC worker caught in such an act should be stripped of their rank and demoted to chicken soup nozzle cleaners.

I wonder how many A3000D cases were thrown away when they were Towered into lame PC cases?

oh poor smeagol

sorry back to topic

No matter what I think the best thing is to make the amiga useable for your need, and if that is to cut a hole, then go ahead. Letting the amiga rotten in the closet is blasphemy

I agree with that - much rather have an Amiga you'd use by modifying the case than just letting it sit there gathering dust...

I agree but he could add an external DVD-ROM for about the same price and no cutting and IMHO you don't really need an optical drive to enhance the Amiga experience if you've got a CF card adapter.

I had a similar idea somewhile ago, but then I decided my A3000 is too beautiful to put a scar on that face. And I don't need the cd rom very often. When I need it I can just plug in the external case.

And, definitely a mod like this will lower it's price to half maybe less, no matter how well you perform it. The thing about amigas is everbody wants to mod his own amiga, nobody is interested in buying an already modded one.
