Thanks Ron for making a new sequel BUT +1 for the "not my cup of tea" art style

They should introduce a new cocktail when they release the game: Gin Rolbert.

if you remember that fine game and have been keen to see what the upcoming sequel is like called 'Return to Monkey Island', then as of today Gilbert's Terrible Toybox studio, in collaboration with Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games has released a brand new gameplay trailer!

It looks awful, the characters just don't seem right, they seem wooden and don't look in proportion to previous MI games. Guybrush was a tall chap but now looks smaller like a dwarf, this 'modern' approach to gfx is just not right for an MI game

Looks so generic. Take away the brand and it's just a slightly upmarket Flash (ok, HTML5) game. I know, I know, - writing, jokes, etc, etc - but, I'm sorry, in a graphic adventure gfx does matter.
Back then, they were the trailblazers, now they are just followers. |

Oh dear. I didn't want pixel art for this game, I'd just hoped for well-drawn art. This is what I'd expect from a $5 indie adventure on Steam.
The characters' eyes remind me of Terrance and Phillip. |

Yikes. It's every bit as bad as they have shown in the teaser. For the people saying that this looks close to Stever Purcell's original style, compare it to his cover art:

Meh, don't care about the art that much. I want to know where Ron would have taken Guybrush after Monkey Island 2. I loved Curse of Monkey Island, but you could feel it wasn't written by Ron. The art direction is very... abstract though.

It's neither art, nor does it have direction. It's just a fanservice product done on the cheap.
Okay, it's a dickish comment, and so I promise to never speak on the subject of this game again. I know many people will enjoy it, and so be it. I'm just sad that most of these revivals of iconic franchises settle for the low hanging fruit, when it could all have been so much better. |

I am not disliking the art style and I am quite happy that the 3d approach hasn't been taken.

I also would have preferred a pixel art look, but the new graphics are ok for me.
At least they look better than the graphics of the MI remake. Still, somewhat disappointing. The voices and music in the trailer are very good, though. If they manage to keep the spirit of MI1+2 regarding puzzles and jokes, then I'm sure the game will still be great. |

Just seen the trailer on Nintendo direct. Not loving the art style either. Was hoping for wither thimbleweed park or even better MI3
Oh well at least its coming to switch first on the consoles. Although that could be by just a day,. Seems its coming out this year though |

Yeah not for me these graphics, worse than the 1990 original (imho) but on the flip side, if I was offered a new MI game I would have accepte dit whatever it looked like.
Music and speech seem spot on, as long as gameplay (always has to be this ultimately) and story solid - I'm sold |

I can’t wait playing this game! At least it’s a complete game with no micro transactions or pay to win elements.
