Loosing my mind
I am new to amigas.
Once the shutter down the spine has stopped... I am habing a problem extracting files on my amiga 1200. I copy the lha files to a floppy, move them to the amiga, copy them to the hard drive and run lha x file.lha. Mos of the time I get a message about I/O errors or it refuses to extract anything at all. I have the newest version of lha from aminet, and have tried multiple disks. The files extract fine on the PC. One other weird thing is sometimes if I extract from the floppy drive it works, But if I copy the same file to the hard drive, it fails. The last thing I have tried is changing the MaxTransfer setting on the hard drive as I read that could couse problems. help... |

It's probably not the case at all but are you using a low density disk to transfer files and not a taped-up high density one? If you only have high density disks then make a couple of copies of the archive to one of the disks - you'll have a better chance of avoiding errors as the multiple files will be spread throughout the disk. It works for me most of the time.
Also, try formatting the disk on the Amiga instead of the PC. I addition to copying them to RAM you also try LHA x file.lha RAM: I think the maxtransfer setting for IDE drivers is 0x1FE00. It worked for my Compact Flash-IDE drives when I was getting corrupted transfers. I don't know if changing the maxtransfer will mean you have to reformat your drive or not though. |

@webmany
Also check your CrossDOS settings. If you have enabled text conversion, the achives are corrupted after copying. |
