Smile Advice on A4000 scratch build

Hi,

I purchased an Amiga 4000 Rev B PCB and an A3660 Rev 1.1 PCB from Ebay.

I can solder surface mount.

How do I get started, most people have dead boards and they transplant stuff across but I have nothing, does anyone know which components are proprietary or obsolete, has anyone seen people selling these components as a set?

Has anyone seen a BoM for one of the supplier sites (digikey, mouser...) for the components that are still in production?

Thanks for looking.

Cheers
Richard

Icomp in Germany and analogic in the uk should be able to sell you the necessary custom chips for the motherboard

I think this is the list of chips required for the Hese replacement A4000 motherboard project, it should get you going:

What an exciting project, I'd love to do this myself. I don't have an A4000 case though.

You can buy the A4000 custom chips and 23 pin D-Sub connectors from Individual Computers (icomp.de).

The rest of the difficult parts should be obtainable from Ebay:

28.37516Mhz Crystal (or amigakit.com)
ADV7120 Video DAC
CPU connectors (or store.inertialcomputing.com)
PGA socket (223pin needed I think for 68060)
Ricoh RP5C01 RTC (or amigakit.com)
74F139D
DS1000-25 (you can use a new DS1100Z-25+ on the A3660)
74F803D (again you can use a new 74F175D as an alternative)
72pin memory sockets (or amigakit.com)
6 pin power connector is TE Connectivity 350827-1

You can probably buy all of the GAL's pre-programmed from someone on here if you don't have the knowhow/tools to do it yourself.

The rest of the parts will be easy enough to source new I should think.

The BOM is on the Github page. I don't think there's a mouser shared cart. The CR version that Trixster linked to is likely different -- for instance, the CR board has PLCC20 GALs on it, while the RevB has PLCC20s with one PLCC28.

Thanks kirk_m, I have already ordered it but I just checked and out of the $350 AUD only $10 AUD was the GAL's, so they are for the spares bin, fingers crossed there won't be too many differences.

Rev. B also uses stacked 25pin D-Sub.

Hi Richard, I’m just about to do the same.
How did you get on and where did you manage to source the Gals and other hard to find parts:

- ADV7120 Video DAC
74F139D
74F803D

John
