Can't run WinUAE
Hello everyone,
I made a quick research in vain. I have a big problem as it's I just can't use WinUAE. Every time I try to run WinUAE my computer becomes incredibly slow and after sometimes the emulation starts and then freezes with a black screen and I have to manually reset my computer. It worked absolutly fine on my last computer and I have all the available kickstart roms (I have Amiga Forever Premium Edition). Wenever I try to run WinUAE, or the Amiga OS 1.3 or 3.X from the Amiga Forever launcher I have the same problem. My computer specs are : AMD 3700+ 2Gbit Ram 6600 GT 20G + 80G Hard Drives Windows XP SP2 Antivirus : Nod32 Firewall : ZoneAlarm I desactivated them but nothing changed. I would be gratefull if someone could help me I want to play my childhood games Thanks in advance. |

Your problem is most likely display driver bug or hardware failure like overheating (by default WinUAE uses all available CPU time in fastest possible modes).
Try using WinUAE in windowed mode, easier to see if it is only WinUAE freezing or whole PC freezing. Can you run modern games without crashes or freezes? btw, please stop blaming SP2.. |

I tried Windowed mode and it still doesn't work.
I have difficulties to switch to the desktop but once I have done it everything is ok WinUAE runs "backward"? (sorry don't know how to say that). If I try to come back to WinUAE the problem still continue and the WinUAE windows is struck on a black screen. I run Oblivion perfectly with no problem at all even during long gaming sessions. I installed nvidia latest drivers, optimized for Oblivion. Should I try to come back to the latest version ? |

Ok. Hardware should be fine.
Try ticking "Don't use RGB overlays" in misc-panel. Do you see anything interesting in winuaelog.txt? (logging enable checkbox is in misc-panel too) |

I tried all that and it didn't change anything.
I also tried ticking "Usb Mode" because I have a USB keyboard and maybe it may come from that but that did nothing... I found this in the bootlog.txt : "Enumerating display devices.. 'Pilote d'affichage principal(in english Main display driver)' 'display' NULL" Maybe it's clue ? That means that I don't have any display driver for WinUAE ? If you want I can send you the complete log file but it's too long to be posted here. |

NULL is ok for primary display.
Can you email/pm both winuaebootlog.txt and winuaelog.txt? |

Hi shushu
I have exactly the same problem. As soon as I launch WinUAE my computer becomes very very slow, but if I wait 10-15 sec the emulator runs fine in the background. But if I activate the uae windows (by clicking on it), the computer becomes very slow again. My computer specs are : Intel P4C 3Ghz 2Gbit Ram ATI X850 XT PE 250G + 500G Hard Drives Windows XP SP2 Antivirus : Kaspersky 6.0 (I had the problem with the 5.0 version too) Firewall : XP integrated firewall Please, help us !!! Just out of curiosity... you two prolly have done this already, just a stupidity check for meself
But: You have the latest drivers for your hardware installed, right? and DirectX 9.0c? Might sounds strange, but this happened to me too, some while ago... I reinstalled the gfx-card drivers and when that didn't do anything, reinstalled DirectX and the emulation worked like a dream afterwards...... Told you, it sounds strange |

I tried to reinstall my graphic card drivers (catalyst 6.6) and directX 9.0c but I didn't change anything...
WinUAE is still slow as hell when the window is active (but works at normal speed when the window is not active)... By the way in both case the CPU utilization is very low (10% max). Could it be an input problem (mouse or keyboard emulation) ??? Please helpppppppppppp |
