My Amiga 3000 ZIP2DRAM project

My Amiga 3000 had a ZIP2SIMM adapter. However, this hindered the use any A3640-style accelerators. And since I already had some DRAM chips that are pin-compatible with the original ZIP RAM intended for the A3000, I figured I'd design my own adapter to make use of these.

It resulted in a 4-layer board with 32x KM44C1000BT and some capacitors, and it works like a charm.

Nice work! Are these going to be available to buy or build?

Thanks!
I haven't made up my mind. It is a bit tricky to mount without risking bending the connector pins, so it would be a nightmare to support.

However, I have 4 boards laying loose

What was your approach to getting the zip connectors in the correct place? Just a pair of calipers and patience?

Basically. Closing my eyes, crossing my fingers and hoping they all align at first try Took me some patience to get them all in place, and if I would ever do a re-design; I won't make single pins. That will make it easier to align and place the card on the sockets.
But it works, and I can reach all the jumpers on the motherboard so I won't ever have to remove the card

Looks nice... and yes, fitting is a pain... you can easily connect it wrong or bend some pins... and always keep in mind the width of the space between the ZIP rows differs in Desktop and Tower...

I might be interested in mounting one of these plates. Although I have to see if I have this type of memory chips in my storage :-)
