Kingdom - The far reaches AGA *Test*

Okay, this is a small project I started some months ago.
I wanted to know, if it´s possible to convert the FMV game "Kingdom - The far reaches" from the CD-i to the Amiga.

I used SCALA MM300 to realize it.
I know, light years away from being professional
But it´s usable for simple FMV games like Kingdom.

I plugged my DV recorder into the CD-i player and recorded the intro sequence and the Kingdom teaser. Then I converted it (including intro pics and main menu) into ANIM and IFF format.

I had to reduce the screen size to 250 x 200 (256 colours) to get it synchronized with the audio output (stereo).

It works quite well as you can see in this video:

I think the whole game needs two CDs and 16 or 32 MB RAM.
I did this demo on 060. But it should run smoothly on 030 as well.

Do you think it´s worth the effort? Should I go on with it?
I´m not sure.

It's a cool start, but I'm not really an FMV game fan, so I can't really comment.

@ Dizzy:

Great link. Thanks a lot. I´ll check out the videos later. (quality, resolution and so on)
(I´m too tired atm.)

Please tell me more about these daphne releases? I never heard about it.
I only know this stupid girl from Dragon´s Lair called Daphne.

well daphne is a Laserdisc Arcade emulator

you can see the diff games on http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/
I got the games from undergroundgamers, so the videofiles are taken from the laserdisc so should be easy to convert

Just a minor warning http://www.digitalleisure.com/ is owning the rights to the game, they have released it on DVD http://www.digitalleisure.com/conten...s.htm#thayersQ

YESSS that´s awesome. My method is far too complicated.

Well, I had that in mind, too. Am I allowed to own the videofiles of TQ?
I only have an original copy of the CD-i conversion. I don´t want to get any trouble.

Mhhh...And what about an unofficial Amiga version?

Your offer would make it really easy to build up a complete version.

Okay!

I decided to stop this project due to copyright reasons.

But I´ll continue working on a new FMV game.
It´ll be a detective story on 2 or 3 CDs.

Please tell me if you´re interested in playing a simple but thrilling Amiga game.
In that case I will use English dialogues instead of a complete German version.

Hi Dizzy
Yeahh, it´s a bit sad, but I really want to share the game with the Amiga community.

Thank you very much
I will open a more detailed thread soon. I´m sure some help is needed...

But I have to start with a concept first. (Will do it this evening...)
