Highway Encounter...

Guys (and girls ) ... look at these... and before you get too excited... its a ST version written by Mark Haigh-Hutchinson (who died a couple of years ago ). Unfortunetly this is from a source that doesn't want to be named and Mark did NOT want the game to be released around 10 years ago so I cannot release it YET. I will try to get permission from the author of the ZX original (Costa Panayi) - since it would be a shame if this game would be lost... According to this site: http://tacgr.emuunlim.com/interviews...hp?interview=3 there should also be an Amiga version somewhere But it seems it is lost... Maybe a conversion someday would be in order ;-)

Edit: "Three months later the Atari ST version was finished -- a conversion to the Amiga took just three days. Not bad for a game written completely in machine code! The game used the machine capabilities well - it was fast, used lots of colour and was much more challenging than the original."

Hmm, maybe an Amiga conversion wouldn't be so hard afterall then

Edit2: If any1 here knows how to contact Costa Panayi please contact me so we can try and obtain permission to release this game to the wild.

Anyway, to the screenshots:

If you got no reply then it's because he doesn't want to bother or that he's not the one who read mails. Did you try the whitepages?
Anyway I don't see why you don't want to release it except for ethical reason I can understand but at the end of the day if it's not released it will be a waste. Why don't let people enjoy it? Nobody will make money out of it.
You can maybe try to contact psytronik software they may be able to convince the author by selling it...

Well, we will see how things go on. The source didn't want to release it because he promised Mark that he will not do so. He sent it to me in hope that we as a community would be able to get some kind of permission to release the game. I was not given explicit instructions NOT to release it. I would much rather release it knowing we have some sort of backing from either of the authors than to release it and later find out that was wrong and I might get in trouble over it.

Hi Tomaz

Thanks for your kind words.
As long as the Atari ST version is made available free of charge as stated below, then you have my permission to release it.

Best regards
Costa

So, without prolonging this any further, you can download the game from the following address:

Yeah, just checked it out, not bad for a 1990 game, never mind being an ST game. Like the graphic style a lot.
