How close, or how far away, is a card from being ready to be made?

I too would like to express my interest in this project. I'd purchase two units.

Hello,
I'll summarise it one sentence, it's not complete yet. The programmable logic design, which is one of my weaker areas, it taking a little longer than expected. One of the challenges of this design, for me, was the programmable logic for the interface and memory controller. This is progressing and is proving to be a good learning experience (I've made a few mistakes on the way). This project has been an awkward one for me as it is public, albeit only on this forum. This adds some pressure as there are many requests for updates and information. A few years ago I walked away from the Amiga scene after a number of unpleasant experiences relating to two projects I was working on at the time. Have been flamed too many times and had a number of unpleasant comments from Amiga forums over the years so please excuse my cautious approach with regard to projects in development. It was only after some long discussions, with some influential people that I came back but quietly. My now standard approach for projects is to announce them when they are done. Look at my threads on PC floppy drive and ATX adaptors for example. There are a number of additional, Amiga related projects that are either complete or nearly complete, that will be announced within the next few months. This re-inforces my approach of showing you a completed design with the product announcement. There will be an update by the 30th june 2010. Ian |

Stedy,
This is an awesome project! I don't know how many of these you are making but if I can put my name down for one where do I sign? This and Zetro's RAM project truly legitimise the once frowned upon A600. Regards, squidbass |

Has the Amiga bug again
|
Ian, I can understand your cautious nature. You do right the way you are approaching your excellent work. The Amiga scene is yet again poised to explode with more projects on the horizon. I for one am willing to wait for a better product; sure updates are nice but I wont swap them for final product quality.

Ian u da man!
I'm really looking forward for your "well known" magnificent work mate. I can very much understand your cautious moves. Patience is a virtue... something that most of us Amiga enthusiasts ought to have after so many years... |

Hi,
@Squidbass When the design is production ready there will be a suppport page, with a mailing list, on my website. The current plan is to make a batch of 50 cards. This might not seem a lot but based upon previous Amiga projects and demand, should be sufficient to provide stock for a while. @mfilos and tonyyeb Thank you for your kind comments. 22 days to go. Is there any reason why this board wouldn't work on the A2000?

@hewitson
The design is to take advantage of the PLCC 68pin DIP 68000 motorola. essentially if one was inclined to build an interface to the 68pin PLCC socket this would work on any 64 pin DIP based 68000 thats A1000, A500, A2000 a 21Mhz 020 with 32 bit Fast Ram will pump about 4.5 MIPS |

Yes I thought so. I'll definitely be ordering one of these if its at all possible to disable it upon booting.
Having said that, how difficult would it be to convert the existing design onto an A2000 CPU Card or A500 sidecar? I'm guessing not very. |
