OS3.2 on A1200 IDE CF Card not recognized
Hi there,
I recently updated my internal IDE CF Card from 4GB to an 8GB model (Transcend TS8GCF133x). I tried partitioning the card with HDToolbox of the OS32 Install disk but the tool didn't show any drive. I had to use HDToolbox of the WB3.1 install disk which worked, so I was creating 2 partitions 128mb each, 1 for OS3.5 and the other for OS3.2 Than I did a restore of my 3.5 installation to one partition and to my surprise the HDToolbox of 3.5 also had no problem with the CF Card and showed all partitions so far. So I created and formated an additional partition of 7.somewhat GB and rebooted with the OS3.2 install disk after hiding the OS3.5 partition in bootup menu. The HDToolbox of OS3.2 still didn't show the CF Card but I was able to install 3.2 to the drive I created with 3.5. So far I haven't detected any problems and I wonder: Is it safe using a disk under OS3.2 that was prepared with HDToolbox of 3.5? So far I copied and used a few GB under OS3.2 and found no problem. So why is HDToolbox of 3.2 not seeing the drive? |

But you don't benefit from the new long file name support introduced in 3.1.4. Quote:
Tell us something about the hardware used. Where is the CF card connected to, which driver is used for the controller, what other drives and controllers are in the system, i.e. where did you restore 3.5 from? |

Holy crap, I totally forgot the tooltypes.
I changed it to pi-scsi.device on the install disk when installing 3.2 on my A500 with pistorm . Now all is working again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Will it be sufficient to activate long file name support or do I have to recreate the partition? |

If you don't have physical 3.2 or 3.1.4 ROMs, you also have to add the new FastFileSystem with a DosType of 444f5307. |
