I would love to have a TF536 but I guess they are no longer available?

I would not even need a working CD-ROM on a TF536 if I’m able to boot from a CF and have some more RAM. I would need a way to switch back to a vanilla CDTV though for using CDTV Titles. CD as a format is pretty much dead since it’s no longer a large storage medium compared to modern solutions.

They are still available pre-built on Amibay or build-yourself on Exxos-store.

They are still available to buy, look on ebay or exxos, the same with cdtv relocator to close the lid. Also a chap on exxos is working on dual cpu board, so you can have stock 7mhz 00 and 50mhz 30 using switch. Not sure if space constraint in CDTV was taken into account, though.

Did you managed to test KILLCD0 command? I prety sure it solves our problem. I have seen from you screeshots that CDTV does boot from HD.

Insert it to startup-sequence as first command.
CDTV boots without a CD-drive, edit included CD0 file, so that disk buffer is located to chip ram.
Mount CD0 with it.

This is what is inside of CD0 file in Killcd archive.

/************************************************/
/* CacheCDFS mountlist entry © 2000 Amiga Inc. */
/************************************************/
FileSystem = L:CacheCDFS

cdtv.device is read from rom, cachecdfs from L: and memory buffres are located to chip ram.What is meaning of those values on Control swicth?

You are right. KillCD0 achive has a preconfigured CD0 files for a amicdfs and cachecdfs. That is interesting because that tells that cdtv.device is not a cdfs.library dependant and can be configured to use different cd-filesystem.

Would TF536 fit inside of CDTV with this relocator, so that CPU is socketed? Or does it require that relocator is soldered to CDTV?

To close the CDTV lid, it requires that the relocator is soldered to the TF536. Or at least mine is. I guess there is a chance the same height saving could be had by removing CDTV 68000 socket and soldering in place.

Also a few of the pins had to be "ground down" on the top of the relocator so as not to short the TF536.

I just used Go0se's relocator and didn't have to solder anything, bought an sd card extender and now my sd card slot is where memory card slot it for easy access. Apologies last few months were hectic, will be picking this up shortly

Sorry, quite didn't cath. Does or does not you TF536 has a go0se relocaltor soldered to it? Do I need relocator soldered to TF536 to be able to close lid and have a CPU on socket? Or can I use this with separater TF536 and relcoator? My tF536 already has a CPU on socket, my builder refused to solder CPU to directly to TF.

I have TF with socketed CPU, using relocator pressed onto TF and into 68K socket, nothing is soldered. I just wrapped both card and SD2IDE with electrical tape to avoid shorts. I squeezed a bit of thermal paste onto 68030 and the top cover sits on it perfectly acting as heat dissipation measure.

I'm currently revisiting this thread with help from other CDTV users.

I think I gave up too soon. With a patched v2.30 extended ROM (when NOT using a CDTV SCSI controller) you can boot to WB (at least from floppy) and then access the CD drive.

With the unpatched ROM the CD drive does not work.

This is the behaviour that TF reported in the thread over on the other forum.

(Only two locations are required for the patch to work one in cdtv.device and one in cdfs.library which is what we started with before we went down a rabbit hole trying to patch any and all Allocmem calls to unsuccessfully get CD booting to work)

We are now trying to confirm that booting from a Gayle style IDE controller works (one of which is on the TF536).

This is not ideal. With 32-bit FASTRAM autoconfigured you cannot boot from CD and (thanks to JOTD & Toni's research) the CDTV's SCSI controller looks like it also doesn't work.

The idea is to gather as much information as possible to feed back to the OS3.2 developers who have very graciously worked on developing a new Kickstart and new extended ROM for CDTV.
