Pyramid Sound Enhancer - Power?

Can anyone please help!

I have one of these:

https://bigbookofamigahardware.com/b...t.aspx?id=1474

It has a Serial port pass-through, but will override the port if set to sound-enhance mode. I have an idea the pass through is nothing more than that, just all lines connected and somehow the sound device is leeching power for itself when enhancing sound.

Would I be crazy having ideas of creating something to feed the device power and not have it connected to the serial port at all? the reason is I want the serial port for midi and do not want to keep moving things/switching or unplugging things around.

Tia.

It probably require +12V and -12V so in theory you can search for such PSU (or buy DC/DC converter module to provide such symmetric voltage from for example +5V - for sure something should be on aliexpress, amazon etc), you can inject power with help of DB25 plug (simulate serial port).

This is exactly what I am leaning towards!

Afaik the Omega Sound Projects version does the same thing and steals the 12v from the serial. I am going to open the pyramid up and have a nose around.

Yes that is correct, it only uses serial for power. I have powered mine through a molex connector.

I have two and suspect I figured out what chip they used, going to order one and replace it, if it works I see no reason to not be able to create DIY Sound Enhancers
