Can't get my head around setting correct aspect?
How do you set WinUAE up so it displays the correct Amiga aspect on my 24" 1920x1200 monitor? Have read a few posts about this but still can't get it to work?
Been faffing around with the filters, aspect ratio and line mode but cannot get my display to look right, the vertical res is squashed to half size. Using the UAE 1024x763 32bit BGRA setting in Prefs, tried other settings like DblPAL etc but they don't display, just a black screen, so how do you set the correct aspect? |

Can you take a screenshot (or even a photo, if the problem does not translate to a screenshot) of what it looks like? And do you mean just in Workbench or is there something wrong with games etc. also?

RTG mode aspect ratio setting is in Expansion panel. Filter panel is only for native modes.
(Use latest beta, special programmed modes can have quite bad positioning in older versions) |

Right, set DblPAL mode and found that to be near, except the fonts don't seem to rendered accurately, they don't appear as sharp or well defined as on a real Amiga. Also, when I press F12 the WinUAE window is almos unreadable as the fonts are all squashed and barely legible?

Blurry GUI is usually normal in D3D fullscreen modes. Some kind of Windows feature or something.. (D3D fullscreen + Windows GUI elements don't seem to mix well) |

@Toni: I think I've sorted it as near as I can. I've used DblPAL and found setting Point/Bilinear to 1 cures the jaggy/ugly font problem, now it looks more like my real Amiga Workbench except a bit more blurry!
@Morbane: Where are those settings in WinUAE? I think they must be in the Amiga Forever release as I can't see them anywhere? |

Use as high as possible PC resolution and then enable scaling to fill the screen. This creates much better quality image, less ugly scaling artifacts.
And yes, those are AF settings. |

PC resolution as in Windows or Workbench? Mine is native 1920x1200 in Windows and DBLPAL High Res No Flicker in Workbench. Also have Aspect 4:3, Keep Aspect Ratio and VGA set in the Filter options.

Ah... the Aspect drop-down should be what your current monitor is (i.e. 16:10 in your case) not what you want the output to be (i.e. 4:3).
Or you can choose 'Automatic' from that same drop-down instead. That may be your problem? |

Yes, it actually does the opposite of what you normally think would happen. Set it to 4:3 and it stretches the Amiga screen to 16:10, set it to 16:10 and shrinks the amiga screen to 4:3. It's set to 16:10 now so the Amiga screen is in the correct aspect.

That's how it is supposed to work. If you enable 4:3 will fill the monitor since your default aspect ratio is 16:10. By enabling your montor's correct aspect ratio (16:10) you're giving WinUAE the correct proportion to output the default Amiga aspect ratio in emulation which is 4:3.

I was just referring to how you normally think of 4:3 and 16:10, if you put your TV in 4:3 it goes 4:3 with black bars and not stretching to fill the screen like the emulation will.
