looking to buy a programe that can read PC disk for Amiga

Ok after searching the board i realize that WB2.05 does not support this feature, but is any one could sell me a WB that does or any programe or copy of that program (that is Amiga compatible), that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

CrossDOS is the implementation used by Workbench in (most versions of) 2.x; you should just use that standalone version of that util. Also, make sure you aren't using high density disks.

Guess not I just read this posted by Akira on another thread

"2.0 and 2.05 do not has the PC0 stuff beacuse it doesnt include CrossDOS. this util appeared only in 3.0 and 2.1 "

I can post it for you, if you like (assuming this doesn't fall in that grey area of still being developed...)

I had the same problem as you sgt_chimp.

See thread
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1174

What I found out is Workbench 2.05, which is what I have with my dead A600 HD, does not include CrossDos but Workbench 2.1 does.

OK guys, how about this: I post CrossDOS4 for you guys. Now I have it in DMS format and I am assuming you will be using it on real Amigas, but not sure how you'll get the file over. What format do you want it in, DMS or ADF?

Whatever version of CrossDos you download will work on your meega, howevere, how on earth are you going to make the first transfer? that's bound to be a problem.

Uukrul found a way to make a transfer for the first time (a mix of arexx and a program on the pc, methinks), he surely will be able to help. If all fails, I can snail-mail you a disk with what you need. (nobody believes this bit, but I will! I am always glad to help anothr amigan I did this many times)

Akira, Im having a little diffuculty getting hold of a null modem cable (and getting my PC and Amiga set up close enough to use one) , If you could snail mail me an Amiga floppy with Crossdos on I would send you a cheque for the p&p, the disk and your time or I have a spare (and slightly dented) Origonal boxed copy of UFO: Enemy unknown (for A1200) I could send you as way of payment.

Thank you

Crossdos 7 rules

If CrossDos is no longer being developed, I would suggest uploading CrossDos 7 as it supports Windows 95 long filenames. The old versions are a real pain cutting the names back to 8.3 all the time.

I will be happy to upload it if anybody needs it. Getting it onto a disk is another matter, but I used to use good old MessySID on my WB1.3 Amiga 500 all those many moons ago. (MessySID = MessyDos and SID setup nicely on a disk).

I'm fairly sure CrossDOS isn't being developed anymore. IIRC the last few times I tried accessing their site, I got a 404, so maybe the company have gone under?

I'll be posting CrossDOS 7 in a few only because I think anyone who doesn't have it, should.
