Assigning joystick buttons to keyboard keys in PUAE

That's it. I'm trying to configure The Lost Vikings in PUAE so I can play it with my PSX pad without using the keyboard. In The Lost Vikings, some keyboard keys are used to switch between the three vikings, to read signs, etc...
But while the AMiga joystick had 2 buttons, my PSX pad has 12!

I DON'T USE any gui, so what I'm asking here is some example lines for my .uaerc config files. Anybody, please? I've been reading all along the PUAE docs, but I can't see how to do it.

I'm bumping this thread to try again: do you guys have an example of key assigning in the uaerc file? Thanks!

I suppose something like this:

input.1.joystick.1.empty=false
input.1.joystick.1.disabled=0
input.1.joystick.1.button.1=KEY_Q.0

should map the Q key to my joystick's second button, but it doesn't work, any help is appreciated

sure, that these settings work with PUAE and not only with WinUAE?

Not sure they work with WinUAE, it's just an example I found in the old E-UAE mailing list...
