A1200 revived after long sleep...
Hello everybody,
I was looking on my parents attic and found my old A1200 !! It is a A1200 with a Blizzard 1220 (020 at 28 MHZ) and 2 MB chip, 4mb fast. The HD is a 240 mb seagate. So I thinking to use this baby again and installed a old 3.2 GB Samsung in it. The original hd with os3.1 is stored on a safe place. Now I have a few questions, maybe somebody can answer me ! 1) Can I format a HD to Amiga format on a PC with WINUAE? So running WB and creating partitions with HD Toolbox. Then I put the 3.2Gb in my PC and install the OS. 2) Which WB should I install? WB 3.1? I read about OS 4.0? Runs this good on my machine? Is it free? Thanks for now, Maurice P.S. also own a old A500 and C64 ! |

4.0 needs a PowerPC processor and a graphics card and it is not free. It's not even available yet. |

Now might be a good time to mention that the the fastfilesystem used in WB3.1 has a maximum partition size of 2GB.
So you'll need to create at least two partitons (more if you like) to fill that 3.2 GB Samsung. |

I have a 3.2GB IBM 2.5" drive in my A1200 and it was easy to setup (2 partitions I think) using WB 3.0.

I hope you have some updated files :- scsi.device, FFS64,SFS,PFS? I guess you have already sorted this if you are runing such a large boot partition, but if not beware of impending data loss. The limitations do depend somewhat on hardware, OS version, & if you are talking about bootable partitions or not. Um... where on the HDD the partitions are & what updates you use... |

Yep, I had data loss on my 6GB drive and had to install SFS and repartition it. Works a treat now though
