Anyone remember a game called Super League Manager (& discuss footy games)
OK so we all remember the legendary football games like Premier Manager, Football Masters, Sensible Soccer, Kick Off 2 et al but do you remember a game called Super League Manager.
In my opinion a vastly underated game. The scenario was you took over a club at the bottom of the 4th division with awaful finances, basic ground and a inept bunch of players and you had to bring them sucsess. You usually ended up getting sacked after a couple of games but that was nearly 8 years ago when I wasnt such a patient chappy. I'd love to play it again, hopefully its included on the DVD collection I bought online - I have it buried in the loft somewhere. JUst wondered if anyone remembered it, thats all. Plus lets discuss old footy games too - the amiga was the cream of the crop for Football Games bar Champ Man/ Football Manager on the modern PC |

Super League Manager was an awesome game.
My younger brother doesn't play computer games, yet he loves Super League Manager. Even now when he comes and visits he always has a game of SLM. Folkford United - all the way. Go Matthew Parkinson! Neither him or I could ever win fourth division in our first season, could do it in the second season but it was impossible to win in the first. No matter what happened you couldn't quite get there, Oldham(?) always got over the line. Has anyone ever managed to win it in the first season? Also, if you have Emlyn Hughes International Soccer you can play the games rather than watching them. I think there is also a deluxe version of SLM with Emlyn Hughes Soccer built in. |

The football game i liked the most on Amiga was European Football Champ, where the ball was attached to the players leg . Not professional like Sensible Soccer but me like it with easier control and it's always fun to knock out the innocent man on the side of the field with the ball .
I still haven't won the arcade mode, the last team is like Speedball 2's Nashwan.... |

Super League Manager was a great game. The fact that all the players and clubs were made up worked in its favour - you had no preconceptions about anyone.
And I actually won the first division 3 times and got told to call a number to become England manager... but of course you couldn't do it! So why is is that the aim of the game when in fact it is impossible to do? Apart from that though, I loved it. |
