The Pawn rework:

A few years back I started to remaster the Pawn poster from a scan last month I restarted & finished the job printed on A3+ fine art lustre paper.

The image above is a small version and lost some quality due to resizing e.t.c.

Thought I would share.

Nice. And now the greatest question of all: who is the author of the original painting? I can not find this information for most of the Rainbird releases.

You can play The Pawn as well as a few other Magnetic Scrolls games (Fish, Guild Of Thieves...) from the Magnetic interpreter if you wish. Just download the interpreter and the corresponding game files (also the hints, where applicable) and you're done. I guess most people use the Windows version, but it will run on ubuntu too.

The Amiga versions of some of the games (as well as the MS-DOS and Archimedes versions of "Wonderland") featured colourful title screens, and some Amiga versions also featured title music. Magnetic supports these title pictures and music.

Although it is a very sharp image, the contrast seems a little too high causing the skin and face to have too much yellow compared to the original image..

Thanks for the info. It's due to a lack of time due to a lot of other projects. I plan to finish verifying that all the disks I transferred over before playing new games

The image was from the poster which was included with the Amiga version the one you posted is like the in game boot screen but I agree mine is a little over saturated I have given it a little tweak in the first post

Just realized I did not include the icc profile for the Pawn pic so would of looked very over saturated in fire fox

Here is another I originally scanned and printed for a friend who wanted the image for a custom spary job on his petrol tank over 20 years ago I will grab a pic of the tank and post later.

I repeated the scan and tweaked for a3 print pictured above over the last couple of weeks.

Just wanted to mention that there is another option for playing (many) of the old Magnetic Scrolls games: the "remastered" versions made by Strand Games, a small game developer founded by Hugh Steers (one of the founding members of Magnetic Scrolls) and Stefan Meier (creator of the Magnetic Scrolls Memorial site).

https://strandgames.com/

They've done some great work.. recovered the original source code from badly damaged backup tapes (by baking them), fixed some long-standing bugs, interface improvements (such as auto-mapping), and even added some original pictures and location-specific ambient sounds.

They are selling the remastered versions, but for 1.49 GBP, they're not getting rich with this project.
