Cyadonia

Hello

I'm a bit new to all this, so I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this thread.

My name's James Newcombe and I'm in the process of writing a web-version of an Amiga puzzle game called Cyadonia, which I wrote many years ago. I've lost my copy (stupidly) and am trying to track it down because I'd love to be able to make use of the level designs from it.

There's an entry for Cyadonia in the HOL database here: http://hol.abime.net/5250

If anyone has a copy of this game I love to get in touch!

Many thanks
James

Welcome to EAB

Could this be what your looking for c_y_a_d____a_game_of_influence_(1991)(j__newcombe).adf

This is the closest thing I've got and it looks spookily close to what you're looking for

Thanks for replying so quickly!

C.Y.A.D. was the first game I wrote, which I've managed to find. The one I'm trying to find is Cyadonia which was the sequel. It's tantalising, because the website I managed to download CYAD from, didn't have Cyadonia!

Just checked the thing out and no, it's not what you're looking for, but it is one of your puzzle games mate!

You sure have picked a tough one there mate, I can hardly find any references to Cyadonia (C.Y.A.D. II). I'll keep looking but I've almost tried everywhere that I know where you can get Amiga games from.

Don't be too disheartened, I'm sure someone here will be able to reunite you with the .adf soon

Hello jameznewcombe,

Welcome to EAB

Just checked through all the files I have but unfortunately no Cyadonia

Found this site on the internet but sadly it's not available for download...

Finally, it seems that Galaxy took the title screenshot for HOL, see this post. Hopefully he has a copy somewhere

Edit: I see that Kris linked to Galaxy's post while I was writing my reply

Welcome to EAB James. Did you write any other Amiga games apart from the two Cyad titles?

Cyadonia, dumped off an original, is now in the Zone. It's a DejaVu licenceware title.

Galaxy had a copy of Cyadonia! Yay!

HUGEST thanks to all of you for helping me track down my game!

When the web version of Cyadonia is read I'll send you a link.

Hi Galaxy

I released a demo called Cyclic (lots of colour cycling patterns, I was mad on colour cycling!) and a sort of book thingy with a friend of mine called "Great Women of our Time". I have neither any more, I think I accidentally through out all my Amiga disks. Quite stupid! But I'm so glad you had Cyadonia, I'm working like a man possessed assembling my new game.

Hey hey! Thanks for Cyclic. This really takes me back. Although I haven't heard the (admittedly weird) tune for many, many years, I found myself humming along.

So many happy memories, can make an aging man cry!

Thanks!

James

Cool game indeed

After many hours I managed to complete the first game (C.Y.A.D.). Now I'm playing the second game (Cyadonia) and got stuck. The level I can not complete is located down in the right corner of the map (level name: Waiting For Cousteau).

The problem is that there seems to be no exit. On some levels you must collect all dots/crystals to activate the exit. I'm sure this is needed on this level, but nothing happens if you do that. So it must be a bug.

The game can be found on the EAB FTP. Also savestate attached if someone wants to try this level.

It can be finished. Did you notice pushing the right hand green button a diamond is quietly removed from the board? So even if the board looks empty, the count will never reach 0 unless it is picked up first. Look for a horizontal pair of diamonds beside a green peak. When the last diamond is really collected, a green button to activate exit appears at the bottom.

Did not notice. Thank You

This game has kept me busy for many hours. Think I never spent so much time on a PD game. I still like it and recommend it for anyone who like puzzle games.

I finally managed to finish the main game. But see now there are also 50 practice levels. Need to play these levels too for the longplay and HOL

Cyadonia is also available for Android and will be released on Steam (PC) this Monday.
