Failed disk in OS raid array for FTP. I've migrated it over to another machine for now. Should not notice anything hopefully. Just informing in case something happens.

Update: Just a bad cable. You can all stop donating for new disk now =)
I'll rebuild the array to make sure it is OK before migrating FTP back to that machine.

Hi To All

Can I ask if the Limited access to the EAB FTP has changed?

I'm more of a reader than a writer so I do not have the required 50 Post total as yet but I was previosly able to login as a guest with the ftp / Password option and enjoy slower download speeds etc.

Just looking to update a couple of WHDLoad packs access seems blocked.

Thanks In Advance for any answers or clues, i'll try harder to get the post numbers climbing but don't want to be posting simply for the sake of it.

Hi Da SaLaD,

No, the anonymous user "ftp" with any password is still active and locked to 50Kb/sec. There are currently 9 anonymous users online leeching away.

What message do you get when you try?

Also, see if you can surf to https://grandis.nu
If you can NOT reach that website, it is possible that your IP has been temporarily blocked. If there are more than 10 anonymous users online and one of them is leeching for more than 3 hours, they will get a temporary kick/ban to allow others in.
This is also depending on HOW much you leeched with the anonymous account. The first time, its just 10 minutes or something but it climbs up rather fast if you've leeched a lot with that account.
Right now there are only two blocks in place so I doubt this is it, but I thought I'd mention it.

Hi Turran

Thanks for the speedy responce, I think something has changed with a recent FireFox Update, I know Chrome And Edge had dropped FTP support within the browser, it now prompts for an application to be linked in Firefox which had been fine.

Any recommedations on a simple FTP program for windows 10? Otherwise I'm off hunting one

Total Commander has a great FTP feature built in. Brilliant file manager as well.

Right, ok.

Most people favor FileZilla. https://filezilla-project.org/
Grab the filezilla client.

It defaults, I think, to want to use 10 connections when connecting to a FTP.
If you are using the anonymous "ftp" account, set that to 1
If you have your own account, you can set it to 2 (so you can browse around while it downloads).

Hey, I found a guide =)
https://www.hostgator.com/help/artic...s-in-filezilla

Or you can do it globally
To reduce the number of simultaneous transfers, open the application -> Edit -> Settings -> Transfers. There you will see a field called Maximum simultaneous transfers - change the value to 1 and click on OK to save the changes.

I removed the "Browse FTP" button at https://grandis.nu/eab as not many browsers support it anymore.

Also a reminder.. if you know the file you are looking for, you can, at https://grandis.nu/eabsearch , check the "HTTP links instead of FTP (experimental)" and download files from there with any browser.

Haha, it is. Total Commander is a little better. The is Cyberduck, which I have not used in years, but it came from the Mac world initially, so the user interface is better looking.

Well tastes differ.
I find TC interface ugly and very old looking, while I find FZ interface "fine" (won't win any GUI contests but is ok).

Real men use flashfxp. If the owner is not in jail for something, its not a real FTP client.

*sarcasm off*

Fun facts:
Since 2018-02-26, when I started logging to MariaDB,
79025 unique IPs (users) downloaded 66.890.434 files
for a total of 90454438069540 bytes (90.45Tb)

They are up to v3? Holy crap. I still got 1.1.3 on my file server from when I was auto trading 0days =)

Seems I have a lifetime upgradable license as well. heh

Edit: Even found the old code for it =)

Code:
alias ftprush {
  if ( %sourcesite == $null ) { echo @echo No sourcesite for $chan : $1- | halt }
  if ( %sourcedir == $null ) { echo @echo No sourcedir for $chan : $1- | halt }
  if ( %destsite == $null ) { echo @echo No destsite for $chan : $1- | halt }
  if ( %destdir == $null ) { echo @echo No destdir for $chan : $1- | halt }
  if ( %release == $null ) { echo @echo No release for $chan : $1- | halt }

  .dll rushmirc.dll RushScript RushApp.FTP.Transfer(0, ' $+ %sourcesite $+ ', ' $+ %sourcedir $+ ', ' $+ %release $+ ', ' $+ %destsite $+ ', ' $+ %destdir $+ ', ' $+ %release $+ ','RS_CHECKLOGIN or RS_DELEMPTYTABS', '', '', '', '', '(\w*100%\w*)|(\w*-\sCOMPLETE(\s(\)|-)|D\))\w*)|(\w*_FINISHED_\w*)|(\w*complete]\s\w*)', 50, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0);
  echo @Debug rushmirc.dll RushScript RushApp.FTP.Transfer(0, ' $+ %sourcesite $+ ', ' $+ %sourcedir $+ ', ' $+ %release $+ ', ' $+ %destsite $+ ', ' $+ %destdir $+ ', ' $+ %release $+ ','RS_CHECKLOGIN or RS_DELEMPTYTABS', '', '', '', '', '(\w*100%\w*)|(\w*-\sCOMPLETE(\s(\)|-)|D\))\w*)|(\w*_FINISHED_\w*)|(\w*complete]\s\w*)', 50, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0);
  unset %lastrel
}

For native Amiga users, I can recommend SimpleFTP on Aminet. Works fine through AmiTCP, and it supports passive transfer.
