3.1.4 + CDTV = no problem?
So I’ve been screwing around in emulation with OS 3.1.4 on CDTV, with a thought toward installing it in my physical CDTV soon enough. Testing doesn’t reveal any kind of issue with debox.library, though it’s yet to be seen if it does something strange on real hardware. Right now I’m running a custom 3.9 ROM.
Are there any actual issues with this version of the OS on CDTV, or is it just that Hyperion doesn’t test or support it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hi,
There are several issues that prevented us from delivering a CDTV release of 3.1.4: -The toolchain to build the extended part of the CDTV rom from sources is nowhere to be found. Remember Commodore only officially supported 1.3 roms on the CDTV. -Whilst we could have done some research work, we did not have a sufficient pool of testers with CDTVs to guarantee proper testing. -Not only that, but overall manpower was low enough to shift priorities elsewhere. The good news is that despite this, now we have dedicated developer that is keen on supporting the CDTV on a future version of AmigaOS. |

Hi guys, very keen on the topic and happy to help testing. Is there any update on the topic since 2019?

There is a group on Facebook with hundreds of CDTV owners with hard disk controllers capable of replacing ROMs and installing AmigaOS.
Whoever works on the CDTV extended ROM you would have a guaranteed market if you made it work with 32-bit FastRAM |

AmigaOS 3.2 will improve a bit on this relegated machine.
And I am almost smelling it... |

I ordered this just recently from sordan.ie (haven't received it yet)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Extende...7/113479558390 Description says this: ------ Licensed Cloanto Extended ROMs (2 pieces - U34 and U35) Version 2.30 for Amiga CDTV + Licensed Cloanto Kickstart 3.1 for Amiga CDTV. On this listing you will receive 2x Extended ROMs for Amiga CDTV without labels on ROMs with separately Cloanto label sticker with license and unique serial number and also Kickstart 3.1 for Amiga CDTV. Extended ROMs giving the Amiga CDTV an upgrade from Workbench 1.3 ROMs to 3.1 ROMs. If you have a turbo card like Savyna you can also boot your system from IDE using this item. If you wish to upgrade your Amiga CDTV to Kickstart 3.1 you need to just remove 2 old ROMs (U34 and U35) and put the new one same way. No soldering required, only flat screwdriver. Then you need to remove your old Kickstart 1.3 and put Kickstart 3.1. Package included: - 2x Licensed Extended ROMs from Cloanto (U34 and U35) - 1x Licensed Kickstart 3.1 ROM from Cloanto for Amiga CDTV ------ Maybe replace the 3.1 rom with "custom" 3.1.4 and see what happens ;-) Last edited by eXeler0; 07 April 2021 at 17:44. |

You would have to ask whoever supplied your TF536.
The firmware was never open sourced but some builders have access and are making changes for owners (e.g. Atari versions) |

I asked TF and the TF536 cannot put it's RAM into the Zorro II space ever. And so you would have to run it with all RAM disabled. (I don't know if that is an option with jumpers or a special TF536 firmware?).
I don't know if it helps but I am pretty sure that the work TF did to patch the v2.30 extended ROM (and that myself and JOTD followed up on) on DOES WORK. You cannot boot from CD but you can boot from HDD and then use the CD. http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=104410 |
