sounds to me you grounded either the +5v or +12, perhaps even both,

with luck its just a ground as such the Amiga Will reset,

Have you rebooted the Amgia since?

Have you tried the Video port?

You're having some problems with this amiga business aren't you! Glad you and the Amiga came out ok though... These things can produce some big sparks but they arent usually that dangerous, not to your life anyway - equipment not so much. Wouldn't recommend trying it again no!

Yes, it's a bit silly to compare 200 volts and more to a mere 12V! Nor is there 5 A of current behind...

Please. NEVER utter the last sentence in presence of an electrician or a technically-aware person, because you might cause the other person to die. (Of laughing, that is! )

I tell you WHAT is dangerous:

some years ago, I accidentally touched my (older, 1990's) hairdryer's plug with bare arms (just unplugged, while it swung) BEFORE the electrolytic capacitor was fully unloaded!!

You bet it did!
It bumped me backwards as if I had touched a piping hot hob!

Hoovers are good for that too. Always best to turn off before unplugging, otherwise it acts like a generator until the motor spins right down.

I did something stupid with my Amiga when I was a kid, I think it was a home made midi interface I wired wrong. But it blew a resistor on the board next to the port. Easy to fix though and the dark brown blob with a hole in gives away what's broken!
