Looks brilliant with new gfx.

I'll just nitpick a little.
Isn't that kick to high?
So, instead of this:

I think it would be better to be like this:

And shouldn't the body bends a little backward so it maintain weight balance, like in the images above?

In the arcade it's also a little bit lower kick.
Now, I understand it might be sprite limitation, and the limited horizontal pixel number.

It doesn't really matter too much, but if it can be fixed, I think it would feel better.

Thank you for your comment. The player sprites as to fit in a specific size. That why the leg is so high.

I also wanted the kick to hit the head... maybe i do that other kick in another game ?

I prefer the other way around. If you finish the original, you are granted a visually expanded version

I think neither. With the new assets they now've got the opportunity to finish and release this as their own title.

Incredible! Looks really amazing.

Imagine how many A500s this game would've sold if it was released in, say, 1989!

Added some sound samples mainly to verify the sample playback rouines are working properly.

Amazing how when you add some the game really comes to life.

Looks and sounds excellent, can i suggest some improvements? Feel free to ignore as i understand its extra work.
1. The backgrounds are too clean, particularly the white background, it would be very nice to have cracks in some places. The best arcades in the 80s/90s always focused on making things different and semi realistic.
2. The water, is it possible to split the colour palette here and using colour cycling have waves?
It looks fantastic!

Give me a chance to get the game engine working first and I'll look into it.

Of course, thanks, i understand completely(and i know because i hate implementing changes in code while still developing the main code), maybe just add my comments to a post completion(gameplay etc.) list and if possible add them, if not thats fine also.

I just think it would be a fantastic opportunity to elevate the game way beyond what seemed possible on the A500 considering the arcade release date (Already achieved just pushing further)

Very nice work.

Am I mistaken (recalling from the arcade), that you could have 3 buddies from left coming, 3 from right and a knife guy at the edge? That would mean 8 (including our hero guy) bobs at once, 9 with the knife. Can the engine handle that?

Yes, i split the enemy characters into smaller bobs to reduce cycles and memory.

It can handle 7 enemis and a few smaller bobs (knives, points, hit) with scrolling.

Awesome stuff, childhood arcade memories on the miggy, incredible what can be achieved with today's dev tools, programming experience and resources.

Q: will it have the C64 SHIFT+G cheat too as an easter egg?
