This thread is turning one of those "do not follow" threads.

Just STOP! This is about a Dread.

On my 1200 with blizzard 1230 mk.IV and fast ram the game is perfect buttery smooth, I didn't notice such issues

Anyone here tried Dread tool and Doom Builder 2, and building it's own level?

I haven't had much time to play with it, but even simple stuff I tried (like just exporting 2 sectors as a level), simply refuse to work.
Maybe because I've changed palette to my own... not really sure.
--------------

I'd appreciate very much if someone smarter then me, that already figured out the moding tools. just create some short video tutorial (just 2 sectors, applying our own textures with our own palette), and post it online.
That would be a huge help to everyone like me, that is struggling.
(I've tried repeating KK steps from his first video... it's just don't work)

I was going to wait for the floor heights, we all know what game we're going to try to clone, so we might as well share out the levels between us

What is this you speak off? Supplementary software to the demo?

No that's your interpretation and not at all what I was saying. I just meant a lot of Amigans are used to something like WHDload so it conditions you to be optimistic of a game working on your system that's all. I'd like to think my expectations as Michael was saying were not too high for at least the exit button to work. But it really isn't a big deal as I've been able to get the flavour of the demo and that is enough.

Right, that's exactly what I meant with "expecting a bit much"
But I do understand this is basically all just opinion and that yours just differs from mine.

That's not what the post I replied to said ("That standard being, major compatibility for like 99% games spreading over all the Amiga's." really does mean something different to me than "I'd like a working exit key" ), but fair enough.

It's the 'Mapmaking SDK' which was released recently, i.e. the tool and assets we've been using. With this and Doom Builder 2 you can make new levels (wads) for Dread

I've tried it some, as you might have seen on discord. so feel free to ask any question on there. (Or here)

It should be as simple as setting up 2 sectors, and place player start. Then edit the config for DreadTool to new wad name, and it should load it.

I am a patreon only because I wanna support project, and not expecting any special treatment, so I'll ask on main map making discord channel, that is open to everyone, so everyone that have similar problem like me, can see a solution.

I will try making simple level using the textures and palette you already did, and if it's working, then it's definitely something wrong with my palette and my textures.

@LaBodilsen
Cheers bro!
I think you should post a link here of great doom recreation map you started.

Awesome that there is a 3D mode much like the Build engine editor but better. I can remember back in the good 'ol days making Doom levels with only the 2D topdown view... brrr.

This being released with an editor in 1993 would have sent the Amiga world and magazines in to some kind of insane frenzy. I can just picture the cover disks now...

I really wonder what impact this release would have caused back then. To bad we wont know it, but it really shows what the Amiga is capable of if properly programmed.

I wonder why Doom Builder, as opposed to Ultimate doom Builder, is used?

This is faster than a 386 DX40, and about equivalent to a 486 SX25 with an ISA VGA card.
For DOS Doom on 386 DX33, a fast SVGA chipset like Tseng Labs ET4000AX ISA is recommended.

Tseng Labs ET4000 has a $129 cost in 1993.

Loads of news here: https://discord.gg/zKCeXxC6nU

Here's a general synopsis for anyone sticking to EAB:

-KK's working on stairs and variable height, fixing loads of bugs, taking in community feedback and expanding the tool and options for mapmakers. A new video is planned to be released at some point, picking up from where we left it.

-I'm continuing expansion of the assets, latest mapmaking SDK has almost quadruple the amount of textures released with the first demo, plus a lot of new floor and ceiling colors and combinations.

-A lot of people from the community have started making new maps using the mapmaking SDK. Here's the latest release:
SDK download - http://devkk.net/files/dread/Dread-M...g-SDK-1926.zip
documentation wiki - http://devkk.net/wiki/index.php/Dreadtool

-A 'community map pack' will be released once we have enough maps ready. An official 'big demo' map is also planned to be released at some point from our part.
