Question ? How much would you pay for a Cyberstorm MKIII ?

Hi there,
just a question
How much do you think a Cyberstorm MKIII is worth?
I personally think it's worth £350. What about you?

£150 + postage

Extra £10-15 if it includes 128Mbyte RAM
Extra £20-30 if it has a Rev 6 MC68060RC50 (E41J mask)
Extra £5 if it has a 3 node Ultra Wide SCSI cable + a wide to narrow adapter for an optical drive

@Alexh
Do you live in a dream world?
When was the last time you've seen a CS MKIII for £150?

You asked how much I thought it was worth, and that's it. (And if you check I actually go as far as £200)

The prices seen today are massively over inflated. I dont really understand why, there cannot be that much demand... just users out there with too much money and no common sense! Ones who insist on getting two or three.

If you get more than £220 for it with everything... the buyer paid too much IMHO

I agree!!!

£350 is way way too much for 10+ year old hardware

YoJoe, the CS is for A3/4000's, the A1200 uses Blizzard

just to add a balance to this

I have tried to avoid this thread, as it does seem what something is worth to some is worth different to others, and then the badgering starts its not really fair and seems "Forum Unfriendly" to be honest

An item is only worth what

<A>You are willing to pay for it
<B>What you are willing to sell it for

I will say simply that if some one doesn't want an item, this will reduce the value it would be to them, either consciously or sub-consciously, this is a documented psychological fact.

I purchased my CS Mk2 060 with 128MB 60ns FPM ram, for the sum of £215 about a 18months ago. that was the going price at the time, however i didn't come with the SCSI module, but at the time they fetched £25 (inc postage)

The last 5 auctions i have seen on eBay, have seriously undersold. ranging from 20 to nearly 40 percent. the last two 030 cards I witness sold at £55 inclusive..... so where does this leave a fully decked CS Mk3, to be sincerely honest i don't know.. and i fear that eBay may well be a crash at the moment insofar as Amiga components, it may pickup over Christmas normally does.

For me the CS Mk3 (and remember this is only for me) fully decked (mem+scsi) would be worth around the £280 area. and before anyone here argues its too high, ask yourself how much you paid for you accelerator.?!

If i am not mistaken the CS Mk3 has not only the fastest SCSI controller for the Amiga it has the fastest memory access (next to the CSPPC) it also if memory serves, has the connectivity for the Cybervision PPC gfx card, which is the most powerful (Amiga specific) graphics card you can get. in fact if i am not mistaken its the most powerful you can get without spending another 100£ on a mediator PCI!

@Lopos2000

My friend, i do fear that you wont get whats its worth to you, indeed, i am also concerned if eBay with its present state would be able to either... it might be an idea to perhaps hold on to it, until such time when its a more buoyant market.

@YoJoe

This card would work in a tower IF you had a Micronik Busboard like this http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/search....&base=dec&pid=
in fact its the same one I have.... with a few mods....

You could always try putting it on fleabay with a reserve and see what happens but like Zetro says now might not be the time seeing as though the prices are flumped.

As the years roll on though I bet they'll increase astronomically with the rarity so I'd probably keep hold of it Unless you need the money of course

i honestly would say it id worth around the £300 mark as it is the best 060 Amiga accelerator. Mine came with my Amiga 4000 (but i swapped my fully loaded Amiga 1200 BPPC240/060 plus BVision).

in conclusion you best bet maybe is to sell it for the highest price on an Amiga forums or if you want the very highest put it on ebay. When you should put it on there i am not sure about though.

I'm stuck in the "for £300 I could get some nice hardware thats made today and is not god knows how old" (PC/Sparc or other)frame of mind. Hence my long running battle with overpriced Amiga hardware, but Amiga hardware has always been over priced I think

Here's something to put the price in perspective...

I just bought a Cyberstorm PPC, 060@50MHz and PPC@233MHz (Phase 5 version, no overclocked components) for £350... so try around £50 - £100 cheaper than that?

Thanks for all you input. You're probably right. £250 is a more realistic price.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=015
