IDE-Fix Express issue
Hi,
I'm having problems getting my new CF recognized by HDtoolbox. I've just got a new CF adapter and 4gb SanDisk Ultra 2 CF. Anyway it boots to floppy fine but it can't recognize my CF in HDtoolbox (says it's not a disk?). Is this adapter + CF ok with a 1200? Thanks |

For what it's worth, I had problems with cards that fast. I ended up getting SanDisk Ultra II that looks very similar with an added silver part at the top that is limited to 9 or 10MB/s and it works fine.

I don't want to say that. I'm just saying I had problems with faster cards and when I got one of the slower ones my problems all went away. Hopefully one of the people with more experience will see this thread and they might have some input. My cards (a 2GB and an 8GB) look like the attached photo.

Don't worry, you've not bought the wrong one.
I've got the exact same Sandisk Ultra II 4GB card as you, and I've also got the 8GB version. I had to format them on my PC using OS3.9 running in WinUAE, but after that they work perfectly in my real A1200 (which is also running OS3.9). -EDIT- I installed the SmartFileSystem (v1.279) and formatted all partitions with it on both my cards, to overcome any limitations of partition size, which is definitely needed on the 8GB card. Highly recommended. Steve. |

I'm right with ya buddy, just did that after reading a post somewhere else and it fixed it good So my only issue now is lack of HD Led which is down to the adapter, I'll order some different ones and see how we go (no way I'm going to try and solder the sucker...it would end in tears). |

You can try to use the atcfwchg.com and/or ndcfwchg.com (programs from Sandisk for x86 PC) to change the CF card from REMOVABLE to FIXED which can help compatibility.
1. Mount the CF as a primary master IDE. 2. Boot from a floppy with the tool on the floppy. 3. Make sure the BIOS see the CF. 4. Issue atcfwchg /p /f |

I think this was not the problem here. I only posted it for others who might be reading.
