Angry Good WHDload games, bad written slaves?

Hello.

I'm stuck in some WHD games I have. Some simply refuses to work due the slave configuration.

An example: I have Cadaver & "Pay off" installed in mine 2Mb chip A600, but the slave claims I need 512kb Chip + 512kb Fast (who I don't have). But I'm sure 2Mb is more than enough to the original game (who requires only 1Mb of chip, BTW).

The game is already WHDloaded, but I face this issue trying it from HD. How to fix it, since the slave don't accept the edited tooltypes I've put on the game icon?

I don't think I need (but I will, in the near future) to put a FAST RAM board inside the A600 just for gaming.

I've just tried Cadaver with 2MB Chipram only in WinUAE in and it works fine, strange.

LOL: On my real A1200 i got this "not enough memory available" message too with 2MB Chip only.

Not strange @ all if you use the .adf disks images. I'm using the WHDload version!

Sure a bit strange. I used the WHDLoad installed version with ClassicWB, no ADF images.

Yes, but I'm using a Classic installation with an A600, not an 1200.

The 600 surely will work with Cadaver and Pay off, since the game(s) is/are ECS. Why in heaven I need fast RAM to it works? That's why I think the slave is bad-written.

BTW: I like your Elvira avatar! ;-)

What's the difference? 2 MB Chip is 2MB Chip. Yep, this game should run on a plain A1200 or a 2MB chipped A600 machine. Ask jotd what he can do, he wrote the slave. Maybe he uses fastram to improve the loading times/decompressing.

And i still find it strange that it works in WinUAE with 2MB chip only.

Good tip, m8. I'll ask Jotd for a fix, or a hint in how solve the problem myself.

Perhaps it isn't so strange, for example directory harddrives use very little Amiga-side RAM (all buffers are in non-Amiga memory) compared to "real" harddrives. (hdf or ide/scsi emulation)

I remember having a program that could divide your chip ram to chip & fast ram. Try that to run the game on your A600.

EDIT: Fakefast was the name , i remember now.

Almost. It's called fakemem .

But don't worry. Jotd had tipped me. All I need to do is remove "PRELOADS" from the icon's tooltypes.

So the slave wasn't badly written in the first place.
